Joint INTA/LIBE Public Hearing on Trade Agreements and Data Flows: Safeguarding the EU Data Protection Standards LIBE/8/03672 The meeting was moderated by Laura Shields, Media Coach. Panel discussion I: Data flows, localisation and global value chains: offensive and defensive interests at stake This session is chaired by Bernd Lange - Ignacio Iruarrizaga Diez (EC-DG TRADE) took the floor. - Chris Sherwood, Head of Public Policy, Allegro Group (on behalf of Industry Coalition for Data Protection) took the floor. - Christopher Kuner, Co-Chairman of the Brussels Privacy Research Hub at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) took the floor. - Finn Myrstad Head of Digital Services Section in the Norwegian Consumer Council took the floor. Panel discussion II: Data flows between the EU and partner countries: how to comply with the EU standards on data protection and fundamental rights? This session was chaired by Claude Moraes. - Paul Nemitz, Director for Fundamental Rights and Union Citizenship, DG Justice took the floor. - Giovanni Buttarelli, European Data Protection Supervisor took the floor. - Anna Fielder, Chair of the Privacy International and Senior Policy Advisor of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue took the floor. Bernd Lange, Chair of the Committee on International Trade and Claude Moraes, Chair of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs took the floor to conclude the hearing. The meeting ended at and resumed at with Timothy Kirkhope in the Chair. Claude Moraes took over the chair after a minute. 2. Adoption of agenda The agenda was adopted with the following change of the order of business: - Points 6, 7 and 8 (Rapporteur Claude MORAES) were postponed. 3. Chair s announcements The Chair indicated that interpretation in Danish, Latvian, Croatian and Gaelic was not available during the first day of meeting from till For the 17th June, the interpretation in Danish, Estonian, Croatian and Gaelic was not available and the interpretation in Latvian was available only from Endorsement of Coordinators' recommendations (Rule 205) Further to Rule 205 of the Rules of Procedures the Chair submitted the following Coordinators' recommendations for approval: Appointment of Rapporteurs: - Ska Keller (Greens/EFA) for the Proposal for a Council Decision establishing provisional measures in the area of international protection for the benefit of Italy and Greece /0125(NLE). Nomination of Rapporteur for opinion: - Péter Niedermüller (S&D) on the Mobilisation of the Flexibility Instruments for the provisional measures in the area of international protection for the benefit of Italy and Greece /2126(BUD); PE v /14 PV\ doc

3 Additional LIBE meeting days: - Coordinators agreed on requesting the following additional meeting slots: Thursday, 2 July (p.m.); Monday, 6 July (Strasbourg) at for a meeting with Commissioner AVRAMOPOULOS and High Representative MOGHERINI in the framework of the strategic own-initiative report on migration; Situation of the media in Slovakia Following the Slovakian government's decision to forbid any communication between the government and the newspaper "N Dennk", Coordinators decided that the Chair would write a letter to the European Commission asking for their views on that matter. Better law making LIBE Coordinators recommended to write a letter to President Schulz outlining the LIBE priorities in view of the review of the rules on Better-Law Making. Missions LIBE mission to Finland - Smart Borders Package: Coordinators decided to send a 3 Member mission composed of a Member of EPP, S&D (covering the two rapporteurs) and ECR. Joint LIBE/BUDG mission to Sicily Coordinators decided that LIBE should be represented with 6 Members with the additional possibility of further accompanying Members from Italy. Missions requested by other Committees: Coordinators decided to request association to the mission to the Internet Governance Forum 2015 in Brazil. The Chair will write a letter to the 3 Committees (ITRE/CULT/JURI) involved and STOA. Motions for Resolutions (Rule 133 of the Rules of Procedure) Coordinators recommended that the following motions for resolutions do not require a follow-up: B8-0497/2015 on the crime of stalking (Aldo Patriciello); B8-0498/2015 on recognition and appreciation of the importance of the role and function of the police forces (Gianluca Buonanno); B8-0486/2015 on establishment of a European Public Prosecutor's Office to combat terrorism (Gianluca Buonanno); B8-0519/2015 on confiscation of goods deriving from criminal activities (Aldo Patriciello); B8-0488/2015 on the online sale of works of art destroyed by Islamic State (IS) (Mario Borghezio); Petitions (Rule 126 of the Rules of Procedure) Coordinators recommended to write a letter to the PETI Committee regarding the Petition 0401/2014 by Daniel Peña Jordana (Spain) on Frontex - petition for increase of competences and funding.
