Call out to unpaid former ISC members For the last three years we have had approximately 250 people listed on our membership roster who have not paid their $20.00 annual dues.the unpaid 250 are on the list because they had previously been paid members. They have not been removed because the ISC does not want to give up on the chance that they might remit the $20.00 annual membership cost when they receive the new dues letter in January. Each one of these unpaid former members is on our mailing list and continues to receive our newsletters. We are reaching out to you in hopes you will consider renewing your $20.00 membership and help us provide Central Illinois youth the best sports facilities in the country. When you are finished reading this, fill out the membership form on page 7 of this newsletter and mail it, along with your $20.00 check, to the ISC at P.O. Box 5776, Peoria, IL Thank you.

4 Page 4 Official Newsletter of the Independent Sports Club of Central Illinois November ISC Capital Projects funds approved This is the 12th year for our Capital Projects funding program. The Board decided to allocate $10,000 for this year s program with an application deadline of July 31. We received four requests which were reviewed by a committee of five ISC Board members. All of the requests were found to be in compliance with our requirements. At the September Board meeting, approval was given to award the following Capital Project grants Troutman Park Princeville for fencing, The Christian Center for sidewalks at the baseball/softball fields, Peoria Heights JFL to build storage sheds, and Dunlap Recreation Association for backstops and fencing. Including this year s grants, we have distributed $105,400 during this 12 year program. With your continuing financial support, we hope to continue this program for a long time. If approved by the membership at our annual meeting in March, the May 2016 newsletter will include the necessary information for groups to apply for funds from this program for the fiscal year. This allocation is intended to assist with medium and large sized community or neighborhood projects that need more significant support. These projects will have longer term impact than where our annual financial aid funding is directed, meaning these grants are for physical projects that last for a longer time and would contribute to the longer term benefit of area youth sports. Troutman Park receives a check for $1,000 toward fencing. Peoria Heights JFL receives a check for $2,000 toward building storage sheds. The Christian Center receives a check for $1,000 toward sidewalks at the baseball/softball fields. The Dunlap Rec Center receives a check for $3,000 for the purchase of backstops and fencing. $50 Cash Raffle #3 The drawing was held at the Smoker on October 8 and the following are the 12 winners out of 120 tickets sold for the last $50 Cash Raffle of Congratulations to these individuals for their support of ISC by buying these tickets. 1st : $1,500 Dudley Nash 073 2nd: $ 500 Andy Weeks 035 3rd through 12th: $ 200 each Don Brennan 101 Dale Meredith 069 Aaron Smith 010 Pat Brooks 057 Bob & Barry 090 Ken Kouri 025 John Waugh 120 Rich Moore 013 Steve Malpede 095 LeRoy Compton W. 6 Page 6 Official Newsletter of the Independent Sports Club of Central Illinois November th annual ISC Smoker just completed The four member ISC Board member committee of Jeff Doeden, Rich Moore, Billy King, and David Hunt decided not to mess with success and again chose the Gateway Building as the venue and Barrack s Catering to provide food and refreshments. The food was great and the beer was cold. What more could one ask for than to spend an evening with friends and associates drinking beer, eating great food and listening to two great major college basketball coaches speak of their upcoming seasons. The evening was once again worthy of the title as the best offcourt sports event of the season. Bradley s new Men s Basketball Coach Brian Wardle made his inaugural visit to the stage along with 4th year Illinois Head Coach John Groce. This show continues as one of the premier sporting events of the Peoria sports scene the ISC Night with the Coaches Smoker. Now in its 20th iteration, the Annual ISC Smoker was held on Thursday, October 8th, at the Gateway Building. A special thanks to Derek Oddo of Gainlight Studios for taking pictures and providing those that adorn this newsletter. If you would like to purchase pictures, contact Derek at derek@gainlight.com or (630) A special thanks to our two featured guests: Bradley s Men s Head Basket - ball Coach Brian Wardle and u of I s Head Basketball Coach John Groce. Both gentlemen delighted the crowd with their insights, anecdotes, observations, predictions, future goals and opinions again showing off the polish that these two premier basketball programs and leaders possess. Best of luck to both, as they begin their respective seasons! As usual, Kirk Wessler and Dave Reynolds, Peoria Journal Star, peppered the coaches with questions about their teams and respective schedules. Roaming mikes allowed the audience to participate with questions of their own. The crowd in excess of 300 avid sports fans also enjoyed the selection of bottled beer, sandwiches, hot hors d oeuvres and received a complimentary artistic poster showing the basketball schedules for the University of Illinois and Bradley University. Once again, a host of corporate and private sponsors helped support and underwrite the top-class program: Bradley University University of Illinois Royal Publishing, Inc.
