5 Page 5 REMINDER CONCERNING THURSDAY CHAPEL Please note we will NOT have Thursday Chapel services at 4:00 PM on the 25th of August or September 1st. Chapel services will begin again on September 8th. Why are we doing this? We do experience some scheduling difficulty in the summer months with vacations. This summer our number of ministers is more limited due to four of our regulars experiencing re-appointments. Residents are also involved in vacations and more outside opportunities and it is also true of our Committee members. Our wish for you is an enjoyable August and Labor Day and a return to Weissert Chapel on September 8th. MARK YOUR CALENDAR! FOOD AND CRAFTS BAZAAR 2016 ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING The 2016 Food and Crafts Bazaar will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Commons. The Bazaar will include the sale of foods and crafts made by our residents, and we will again have spectacular door prizes. Customers will be invited to purchase coffee or tea and donuts at a Coffee Hour on the Bridge. All profits will be given to the Payne Family Employee Education Fund. An organizational meeting will be held in the Commons on Wednesday, August 31st, at 10:00 AM. If you are interested in helping with planning, pricing of food and crafts, door prize ticket sales, hosting the Coffee Hour, or assisting on the day of the bazaar, please plan to attend. We will be asking you to indicate your interest in one of the subcommittees at that meeting. If you have any questions, please call Jean Davis at X3454, Pat Mignogna (Crafts) at X3440, Connie Dahlberg (Door Prizes) at X3753, or Ida Powell (Food) at X3428. Wednesday, August 31 10:00 AM Commons FROM DINING SERVICES Labor Day celebration will be held on Monday, September 5th, from the hours of 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM. The sign-up sheets will be available at 12:00 PM on Monday, August 22nd, and will be located on the Bridge near the Main Dining Room. There will be a singles table for four people available. Beer and wine coolers will be offered. This is an $8.00 meal. The Café will be will be closed for lunch and dinner. The James River Grille will be open during its normal business hours. We strongly suggest that all reservations for Labor Day be made by Friday, September 2nd. In the event that the deadline is missed, please leave a message on our reservation line at X6027, and a hostess will call back to confirm your reservation. We appreciate your cooperation and support, as following these procedures will assist us in serving you better!

HAPPINESS REPORTS AND FYI Happiness is seeing the many beautiful yellow and black butterflies on the butterfly bushes out of my westernish window. Happiness is Marketing still providing the newspapers and puzzles in the Main Lobby. Greater happiness would come if ALL parts of the papers would remain all day so everyone can read them! Remember, there is a camera looking on! Summer will soon be coming to an end. However, there is still a lot going on inside and out. Did you see a staff member or resident do something special? Let us know who or what makes you happy? Cards are available in the mail room above the Mixed Paper bin. Turn in your reports to Box C717. F Y I: We had.08 of rain on Sunday evening. We now have 1.13 for August and for the year which puts us 8.87 above normal. The Pedlar Lake Reservoir is again level with the spillway with 100% of our drinking water still coming from the Reservoir while Smith Mountain Lake is about below full pond level.
