The board meeting was presided by no other than our Chapter President, Ar. Carla Epino with 18 attendees with 1 past Chapter president. Discussed were the upcoming Design Build Seminar to be held at CW Home Depot Balintawak sponsored by the QC Silangan Chapter on Nov 18, the 4 th GMM and CPD Seminar entitled Painting Technical Talk and Induction of New Members on November 27, venue will be at the Philippine Heart Center, 6 th Regular December 7 Board Meeting, the CYA Activity entitled PINTIG to be spearheaded by the UAPQC, NAW 2017 on Dec which will be a joint District A3 activity, the 2017 UAPQC Annual Christmas Party Symbols of Christmas, the January 4 Regular Board Meeting, Lakbay Lokal on January 13 Exploring Rizal, the January 5 th GMM with CPD Seminar to be held on January 31, 2018 at Max s Restaurant Sct. Tuason St. QC. Other matters discussed were: the updating of the Yahoogroups or creating a new one, list of members to be inducted, The Board Meeting was adjourned at 10:30pm. After so many years, EAROPH CONFERENCE was again held in the Philippines, held no less, at the City regarded as one of the most competitive cities in the Philippines, QUEZON CITY. Last November 6-8, 2017, EAROPH Regional Conference was held at Seda Hotel, Vertis North, Quezon City. Led by Past National President and Past Chapter President and currently the President of EAROPH Philippines, Ar Edric Marco C. Florentino, fuap, ASEAN Ar, Apec Ar the 50 TH EAROPH REGIONAL CONFERENCE. 8 UAPQC Chapter Officers and Advisers composed the EAROPH OFFICERS for the said Conference, Past President Ar Ana Ling, fuap ( Earoph Phil. Treasurer), Ar Carlo Fundador B. Marudo ( Earoph Phils. Secretary) Organizing Committee : Ar Marian Eileen Florentino-Marudo - Conference Director Ar Marcelia L. Arce_ignacio - Program Chairperson Ar Louise Chito B. Ranay Operations Chairperson Ar Maria Carla G. Epino, fuap Finance Chairperson Ar Ryan Oliver Gonzales Food & Beverage Chairperson Ar Isabelito Novio Operations Deputy Chairperson EAROPH PHILIPPINES has prepared robust program for the Two-Day Conference with Technical Tour. The Theme for the Conference is BETWEEN VISION AND REALITY : The Path towards the Sustainable City. It offers (4) Tracks namely : Inclusivity, Safety, Resilience and Sustainability which was delivered by (5) Foreign Speakers and (4) Local Speakers. Around 180 foreign and local delegates graced the event, to learn and understand the past, current and future conditions of our communities, and to share and discuss best practices and solutions of various Asian Cities in the hope of achieving and providing a true sustainable city. A strong team of 12 officers from UAP Quezon City Chapter graced the said event. A simple but sumptuous dinner was prepared for us. There was live band for entertainment. Representative from each chapter rendered a song couple with a surprise gift. Architects are truly talented not only with design skills but with singing voice as well. This night was to promote camaraderie among officers of District A3 as we welcome their new Business Development Officer Mr. Cris De Guzman. We were warmly welcomed by Ms. Jojie Quintos VP for Marketing and other officer of Davies Paints Philippines. Raffle prizes were drawn as UAP QC Chapter went home with lots of prizes. Some stayed for another round of Karaoke Night. Loot bags were given to everyone who attended. Thank you, Davies Paints Philippines for hosting this event. Party ended around 11:00 pm. Our Resource Speaker is Mr. Alfred Galvez an expert with various Faux Finishes. Faux Finishes it means Painting a Concrete Faux Finish, for a soft, contemporary look and feel to your faux-finished walls, consider replicating the look of concrete. Ultimately, Faux Painting is a term used to describe a decorative paint finish that replicates the appearance of another material. Marble, wood and stone are common materials to replicate with faux finishing. Concrete-ing - In a nutshell, the process involves random yet strategic incorporations of white, grey and black paint and glazing with a 9-inch plaster blade. Graining - with Faux bois being a recent hot trend in interiors, graining might be the way to go in Faux Finishes. It uses graining tools, then drag it gently down and across a wet glazed or painted surface. Rock the graining tools as you go in random, varied spots to mimic the natural course of wood grain. Strie Painting is a faux finish painting technique that is used to create soft streak of color. When the streak are drawn onto the wall paint, the final effect is something soft that resembles fabric. Apply a paint/glaze combo using a roller and vertical strokes, then drag a long-bristled brush carefully down through the paint /glaze. Sponging Lightly dip a dry sponge into the paint and gently push onto the surface you are working with. The Key to sponging is to do multiple layers, each very lightly, to build up the color density you are after. Other Faux Finishes Techniques : Denim Painting / Bricking / Ragging /Rag Rolling /Marbleizing / Leathering /Stippling /Stenciling/ Plastering / Distressing / Dragging. Part III of the Program is the application of Painting Techniques that was lectured early on. As part of our Chapter s CSR Program for Fy We have prepared 15 pcs of ¾ Plyboard, primed and ready for Painting by chapter members during the November GMM. These Painted boards will be installed as Headboard at the E-ward for Children Section of Philippine Heart Center. This program was spearheaded by Ar Marlon Reyes of Phil. Heart Center. Chapter members were given various size of Paint brushes, Odorless and Antibacterial Elastomeric paints were donated by Rain or Shine, since these headboard will be installed at the E-ward.
