AGENDA ITEM 2 Welcome DG Ron welcomed everybody to the meeting. Minutes of previous Cabinet meeting Minutes of Previous Meeting: The Minutes of the Meeting held on 22 May 2016 were agreed as correct. Proposer: John Barnes Seconder: Ann Pemberton AGENDA ITEM 3 Apologies for Absence received from Richard and Jackie Williams, Onkcar, Claire and Jaap de Jonge, Martin Hill, Dave Jeavons, Mike and Mavis Cooke, Darren Blenkiron and last but certainly not least Joy Haffner. AGENDA ITEM 4 Matters Arising: Some items in this section may be covered during the day. Joy Haffner had some issues mentioned at the previous Cabinet regarding addresses. Joy now seems to have sorted those problems and Simon Moss confirms it is now fixed. GMT President Birmingham Exhibition Meeting taking place and records up to date.

2 Kettering no President, however, the Secretary is happy to be contacted if there are issues arising. Bilston Harry Fry sorting issues at Bilston Roy White Trophy Ken Barker to report later. Linda Cross Linda requested that Cabinet indulge a raffle to take place at the Cabinet meeting for the Wife of DG appeal. AGENDA ITEM 5 Reports SECTION 1 Region and Zones Region 1 - Stewart Update now Zone meeting 2 on 29 September and Zone meeting 3 on 25 October. No further updates from Zone Chairs. Possibility of Lions Club in Aston advanced stage of talking to people introduced from Coventry Mercia. It was reported that Doug had learnt the third verse of the National Anthem. Region 2 Anita Anita attending the first zone meeting on 1 September. Reports are all as submitted. Region 3 Ian all reports as submitted Skittles final not yet concluded. Andy offered a date for final. Looking at November to be agreed. Roger Clark funding for Northampton Club Golf Day from membership. Andy agreed to Roger to send , copy to Christine Moss. All reports approved. Acceptance of the reports proposed by Stewart Sherman Kahn Seconded by Ian Haffner SECTION 2 International reports No further updates. Carole Water Projects last project delivered in time and within budget. Femi has a similar project to supply Water Bore holes. 98% of population can t get to clean water. The new project requires 6,700 and could take two years to complete. Carole requests Cabinet approval to start this project.

3 Cabinet agreed to request contributions from clubs and ensure this is first on DG shopping list. Street Children No update as Officer not present Question from Christine Moss what s happened to the 1,000 donated from Ray McGuirk via Jackie to create a water well in memory of her father in Nepal? Christine was informed this was still an ongoing issue. Acceptance of the reports proposed by Carole seconded by Wim - carried Section 3 Communications and Centennial Update from Simon on Centennial celebrations. This is a big opportunity to raise the profile and attract new members. 1. We need to carry out club activities which are seen and visible. 2. We need to tell everyone about them. All clubs need to report centennial activities on MyLCI. Simon believes the legacy project is a good idea. Wherever we can place a Lion logo in the community must be good publicity such as benches, bins, etc. Request from Joy please can she be informed of members who have left the organisation so she can delete them from her system and not send items out to them. DG allowing Joy access as a guest to MyLCI. Ken action from last Cabinet meeting. Roy White widow on Roy White trophy she is in full agreement on change of use of trophy. The Roy White trophy is awarded to the club within 105M with the best website and social media content. Cabinet need to see the outline for this competition and the rules. Cabinet agreed all Communications reports. Acceptance of reports proposed by Simon Moss seconded by Ken Barker Section 4 Youth Update from Christine to Cabinet please be aware that the parents of the YLiS candidates have become Lions members, therefore Christine feels the YLiS is an excellent recruitment tool. Update of Cath Centennial celebration make a note that the Youth Ambassador final for MD105 is February 2017 at Dudley.

4 The next Cabinet meeting in November will also be the district final for the Young Ambassador competition. Lifeskills Terry organised a presentation on 29 September for Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull to present 16 schools with lifeskills resources. 7 Solihull club presidents will be going and the 16 schools will be represented so about 60 will be present and should get good coverage in Midlands News. DG welcomed Manesh to the Committee. Manesh is the new Leo officer from Coventry Godiva. Manesh is looking to recruit young Leos years old to boost Leo membership. DG thanks Manesh for work to date on Leos Heather update on Nottingham Youth Camp District 105E did not support the proposal for the Nottingham Youth Camp even though an outline programme had been completed and a budget produced and submitted to Council. However, the budget was not approved and Council did not support the overspend that was outlined. Council adjourned the decision to an online meeting. Both M and SE asked if they could offer an alternative Youth camp. A revised budget now submitted and will be discussed. Alternative locations to be considered. John Barns is looking at Youth Centre in Midlands for 2017 possibly Worcester. 105M needs to back the decision to locate the Youth camp within 105M. It is also proposed that the young people involved would go to Sheffield to help with SOGB games. Proposed by John Barnes Seconded by Simon Moss All reports approved Section 5 Health and Environment Sarah gave an update to Cabinet on Martin s health issues. 3 rd chemo went well and Martin is in good spirits. All of Cabinet send their good wishes to Martin. Sarah a request to add the Birmingham Crisis Centre to the DG shopping list. Simon agrees this is an excellent project. They have sourced furniture, computers, etc to run the centre. Simon met with centre manager. They need a facility to teach computer skills to those in the centre. It may not need to be money, it may be time and expertise to help them. Cabinet approves this project and will examine the needs further. Sarah to investigate further. Linda Cross update Linda is awaiting MD sight meeting and MedicAlert meeting.

5 Jackie MIAB Jackie was welcomed to Cabinet by DG Ron. Jackie is trying to get support from all clubs in 105M and is trying to compile a directory for emergency services so that we can recontact those in charge to ensure the Message in a Bottle publicity is going to the right places and all of the services are aware of MIAB. Harry Hearing Dogs for the Deaf a centennial project funding for a new dog. Many have never seen a dog for the deaf and Harry has now seen a hearing dog in action at a recent event. Harry is speaking with area fundraiser for the Midlands and will be issuing an invite to them for Autumn Forum if Cabinet approves Cabinet gave approval. Diabetes update a successful diabetes screening in Mell Square 109 people checked. Usually 10% of the total are referred to their GP for further tests. Dave Jeavons to send out a circular as a reminder for the Environmental photo competition Acceptance of the reports proposed by Sarah Hill seconded by Pauline Fanti - carried Section 6 Global Membership Team Reports as submitted Andy: Decision 1 spent an hour talking to regions/zone chair already Andy is requesting that every club has a membership officer for even a membership committee. The names of the club membership officer should be submitted to MyLCI. This has been approved by Cabinet. Decision 2 The DG strapline for the year is Find me a Member and we are asking all current members to find one new member simply by asking them to join. Again Cabinet agreed. Decision 3 we need to pull membership figures back to at least 1,000. We are currently at 972. We must develop clubs progressively in areas where we are weak. We need more females to join as female membership is only 25% of the total. Carole questioned Friends of Lions they are not Lions. Carole feels these should be developed into members. We should at least call them community volunteers to get them into the idea of volunteering. Acceptance of the reports proposed by Andy Pemberton seconded by Ann Pemberton - carried Section 7 Global Leadership Team Reports as submitted.

6 Update Harry mentioned Autumn Forum change in focus bring in more external speakers, ie Hearing Dogs. Also get back Young Ambassador for Environmental Project also Food bank speaker. Acceptance of reports proposed by Ian Haffner Seconded by Paul Murphy - carried Section 8 Finance and Admin Chris F/A no meeting as yet. The next meeting is on 19 September at MDHQ. Brigitte District Secretary please can Cabinet officers keep to report deadlines in preparation of Cabinet and in conjunction with Ron and Chris Brigitte will look to reports structure for Cabinet. Christine Moss Finance report Update on Evesham may get our money back. Christine has written to the bank. Apologies from Christine that the dues calculator was wrong. Not adding in insurance element. New calculations will go out via Joy in next few weeks. DG Ron praised Christine for taking on the role of District Treasurer and to get everything in order. Wim to revise our District Constitution to bring to Convention this year for updating. Due to Martin s ill health he has expressed his wish to second down as 2 nd VDG. Therefore, an election will take place prior to Autumn Forum to select a new 2 nd VDG for 105M. A request for nominations to go out to receive before Autumn Forum. 105M Convention update a presentation will take place at Autumn Forum. Ray H&S 57% return on statement of intent. Please get all others in. VP no updates. Chris Burrows Trust Accounts need to be sorted. Charity accounts don t need to be approved. Current Trustees need to meet asap as we are currently in default with the Charities Commission. All report Proposed by Chris Burrows

7 Seconder Christine Moss - carried Section 9 Long Range Planning Chris reported that the Long Range plan was not completed as yet and therefore no updates. There should be a separate working group for implications of redistricting for 105M. Cabinet agreed Acceptance of reports Ron seconded by Stewart carried Section 10 Governor s team report Progress on Redistricting DG Heather reported there is an online meeting tonight of COG. The returned Questionnaire gave a feeling of feedback 55% of returns come back. Of those results 70% overall approved of redistricting. Also some trends showed what clubs would like to take into account for example Clubs did not want to pay more in dues., also a definite No to single district concept. Of the 12 districts, 10 districts said Yes to redistricting and only 2 said no. COG decided on a special meeting to be held on 18 September at Marie Curie Hospice Solihull. Meeting at 10am and look at options for redistricting. There was some talk of Districts merging for example District M and W and it was agreed that more consultation on this should take place. 1 st VDG and F and A Committee were tasked to investigate this matter further Majority seemed to favour the 8 district proposal. Acceptance of reports Heather Seconded by - Chris carried Any other Business Lion Sue Harris letter Dudley LC. Sue taking part in Women v Cancer cycle ride. Hopes to raise 3,500 for charities. Dudley LC are pleased to support. Would other clubs assist? Include sponsor form. Ron will circulate but this is not a district project. There will be a stand at forum.
