Try Greer Jr. has request a three (3) mnth leave f absence. A letter was given t the Fire Clerks. Engine 3 will be scheduled fr service at the Fairlawn DPW n January 3 rd, 2018 at 8:30AM. Engine 3 used ten (10) bags f Speedy Dry at the recent fuel spills which need replacing. Chief Speranza apprves f the replacements being purchased and the bill being submitted. Engine CO. #4; by Assistant Chief Peter Van Derr Velde: 23 bx alarms; 10 still alarms; 0 radi calls; 1 drills fr a ttal f 34 alarms. Nt included in this ttal are 8 mutual calls t Glen Rck. Engine 4 held 0 additinal trainings. Tw (2) members are n medical leave: Lt. Flanagan: frm December 15 th, 2017 until January 31 st, 2018 (until cleared by his dctr). FF Sylvester: frm January 1 st, 2018 until February 1 st, Engine 4 received fur (4) new Captain and Lieutenant shields fr helmets. Starting this mnth, Engine 4 will be cntinuing their crss-training with Rescue 5 n the task frce. Engine 4, Engine 3 and Rescue 5 will als be training nce a mnth n the task frce n the third (3 rd ) Mnday r Thursday night with the Glen Rck Fire Dept. The first drill this mnth will be dne in Hawthrne and the February drill will be dne in Glen Rck. Crss-training n equipment will als be between bth Departments. CHIEF S REPORT AND CURRENT EVENTS SUMMARY; by Fire The Hawthrne Fire Department received tw (2) checks frm Glen Rck residents, ne fr $25.00 and ne fr $ Chief Speranza thanks Cmpany 4 fr their aid t Glen Rck and their residents. The Hawthrne Fire Department received a check frm the First Refrm Church f Hawthrne fr $250 as part f a supprt prgram. Chief Speranza reminds the Bard that LOSAP reprts are due t him by Mnday, January 8 th, There is a meeting n January 3 rd, 2018 with the grant writers t prpse grants requests fr the bail-ut kits, car fire simulatr and dr-prp device fr ur Training Center. Expected grant requests will likely exceed $75,000. If there is anything else the Bard wishes t present t the grant writers, Chief requests they vice this at this Fire Bard s it can be prepared fr the meeting. Bard members were given new Divisin f Fire Frms fr use in the event f the injury r fatality f a Fire Fighter. It shuld be lcated n the apparatus. 5 Thanks are extended fr everyne s participatin in the Santa Run. Althugh the weather was nt ideal, the turnut f the residents was mre than expected and the cmmunity prceeded t rave abut it n their Facebk page. New Insurance Cards have been prvided lcated in mailbxes at HQ and shuld be mved t their apprpriate apparatus t replace expiring Insurance Cards. Dates t Remember: January 12 th : Hawthrne Fire Department Installatin Dinner. Requested that attendees begin shwing up at 6:30pm, as the prgram will begin prmptly at 7:00pm. This has been cmmunicated a few times s please d nt be late. We will be mving thrugh ur prgram as quickly as pssible t ensure the night is as enjyable as pssible. Headcunts have been prvided t each Cmpany and expenses will be frwarded t each Cmpany nce they are apprpriated. Bar expenses are estimated at $15 per head; Checks shuld be brught n January 12 th. Ridgewd Fire Department has added Hawthrne as the mutual aid assignment t them and in return we can use them as a cunterpart t Hawthrne. We guarantee a minimum f fur (4) members whether they call fr an aerial r an engine and the agreement is reciprcal. We hpe t wrk clsely with them, as having allies n ur brders shuld be beneficial. We are awaiting a date fr the prperty at Stnick Street fr a Department Drill. While we anticipated a date fr the week fllwing this Fire Bard, it may be delayed due t the Develper adding prperty t his lt-size. He has been buying huses arund his develpment, expanding his lt frm seven (7) huses t abut twelve (12) huses. A reminder t Department Officers: Re-Org meeting is scheduled fr Sunday, January 21 st, 9:00AM at Headquarters. If an Officer cannt attend, he/she is expected t cntact Chief Speranza directly s they can be prperly excused. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Training Center; by Assistant Chief Jseph Lng: Purchase f crash pads will be made smetime this week. Class has been set fr February 3 rd r 4 th dates will be cmmunicated when finalized. List frm each Cmpany f wh is interested in participating in Bail-Out prgram nce Grant is finalized will be needed. Assistant Chief s have all received previusly cmmunicated e- mail regarding details n Bail-Out Training Prgram, which shuld be cming back t reflect interest. Chief Speranza cmments that we have received the returned PO frm Kevin Dwnes fr the first $2,400 and are awaiting n the secnd $2,400 frm Glen Rck. Gerge DeGrt reminds the Bard that n Thursday, January 11 th, 2018 there will be n Officers frm Cmpany 3 as they will be in Pennsylvania fr business cncerning their apparatus. II. Lt. Jerry Flanagan inquires if there is a date fr the Explrers meeting. Chief Speranza explains that the Junirs Prgram is abut t be disslved in the state f New Jersey s the Explrers Prgram is mst likely nt ging t cntinue. Until we have cncrete infrmatin as t what the State is ding with the Junir Prgram, we will nt be mving frward with any meetings regarding the Explrers Prgram. Assistant Chief Hughes adds that the Department f Labr has issued a decree that states the Explrer and Junir Prgrams can still exist, but all they can d is training.
