Nne REPORTS President President Ortiz stated there are three vacancies n the Senate and fur students have expressed interest. President Ortiz will be reviewing the Candidates applicatins this week. President Ortiz reminded the Senate f the fllwing cmmittee meetings scheduled in the Administratin Bard Rm fr this week: The Bard Agenda Review Grup will be meeting tmrrw, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. President Ortiz will be attending. The CART Student Survey Task Frce Cmmittee will be meeting tmrrw, Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in rm 2780D. President Ortiz will als be attending. Senatr Diaz and Senatr Barrients vlunteered t be part f the Citizen s Oversight Cmmittee. President Ortiz will prvide an applicatin t each Senatr. The applicatin needs t be turned in t Ms. Mary Carter in the Business Office r t Saria Cardza. President Ortiz received an invitatin frm Ms. Nrma Nuñez, Student Success & Supprt Prgram Directr t take part in the 1 st Step Welcme Orientatin. The welcme will be held Saturday, May 9, Senatrs were in cnsensus t be part f this event. President Ortiz will fllw up with Ms. Nuñez. President Ortiz has vlunteered t be part f the Hiring Cmmittee fr the Dean f Arts, Letters and Learning Services psitin. The deadline fr this psitin has been extended. Senatr Galeana reprted n the fllwing events: High Schl Madness at the CA Mid-Winter Fair went very well. Beads were available t all students wh visited the IVC fair bth. Welcme Back BBQ was held last Thursday. Mre than 800 ht dgs and drinks were made available t students. Senatr Galeana received gd cmments n this event. The Activities Cmmissin didn t want t frget ur evening students and a Welcme Back fr Evening Students will be held next Wednesday, March 18, Cffee and dnuts will be prvided frm 6:00 p.m. t 7:00 p.m. at the Amphitheater as the majrity f the evening ppulatin is by the 2700 building. The Cultural Cmmissin cntinues t wrk clsely with Campus Safety in regards t the Sexual Assault Event scheduled n Thursday, April 23, Publicity Senatr Vasquez stated that the tri-pds that were placed in the 2700 building fr publicity purpses have disappeared. ANNOUNCEMENTS Senatrs Senatr Barrients requested the usage f the Cllege Center n behalf f the Upward Bund Prgram. Dean Lpez suggests submitting a request thrugh the service desk ticket fr the usage f the rm. Senatr Vandiver asked whether r nt the STEM Club has jurisdictin ver the study rm acrss their strage place. Dean Lpez said clubs d nt have jurisdictin ver study rms. Deleted Curses The cmmittee decided t delete the fllwing curses JRN 102, JRN 104, JRN 106 and JRN 108 effective schl year. 2. Revised Curses The cmmittee decided t delete the fllwing curses JRN 102, JRN 104, JRN 106 and JRN 108 effective schl year. B. Degrees and Certificates The cmmittee decided t delete Cmmunicatin Arts Degree and Jurnalism Degree effective schl year. III. Discussin Items 1. Other Items * Mr. Pattersn mentined hw sme class capacities f 25 were being raised t 28. * Kathy Berry asked departments t check t see if capacity culd be altered. * 13 Classes are cming frm a higher hierarchy are being pushed by t have a bigger classrm capacity which are ADS/PSY 120, AG/ENVS 110, AHP100, AJ100, AJ102, Art 100 & 102, CIS101, Cun100, Hum100, Mus100 & 102 and Sc 101. *Example AG has a capacity f 35 at the mment and they want t increase t 40. *Mr. Pattersn has this infrmatin available and will send it ut t the department chairs. *The number f capacities are given due t classrm size and classes are usually dne in the same classrm.
