2 From the desk of the UNICO Treasurer and I Madonnari Chair, Jeff Vitucci: Grazie mille a tutti! Much thanks to all of you who helped out during our annual fundraiser at the I Madonnari event, over last Memorial Day weekend. It was another great success we raised about $3,500 for our own scholarship programs, as well as a similar amount for the Children s Creative Project, the event organizer and principal beneficiary of the event. The CCP is a Santa Barbara County Education Office program that brings art education programs - performing arts, music and visual arts programs to area elementary and secondary school children. We have sponsored this event since its inception 29 years ago. While it was some hard work at times, it was fun seeing everybody work together to make the event the success it was. I m already looking forward to next year! Jeff Find the Magic of Giving Back and buy a coupon for this year s Shop for a Cause event on August 29 th, 2015! Santa Barbara UNICO Italian-American Society UNICO SB s 501c3 will have coupons on sale at the Pizza Party. 100% of your $5.00 donation goes to SBUI-AS and you can purchase as many as you like and give them to family and friends. 3 2015 UNICO NATIONAL CONVENTION The 93rd Annual UNICO Convention will be held at the Marriott Newport Beach Hotel & Spa in Newport Beach, California, July 29-August 1, Due to the convention being held in California this year we hope to see a good group from our Santa Barbara Chapter attend. Watch the newsletter for more information. If you have already decided to attend please use the links below for the registration and reservation forms. Please bring your check of $70.00 made payable to UNICO to this months meeting or you can mail your check to our Treasurer Jeff at: Jeff Vitucci 321 East Padre Street, Santa Barbara, CA We will soon be sending in our check to cover dues for our chapter and would like to collect the membership dues before we pay National. The breakdown of dues is: $65.00 to UNICO National, $5.00 to UNICO Santa Barbara. 4 Scholarship Awards Dinner May 2015 Our annual Scholarship Awards dinner was held poolside at the Coral Casino last month and our two winners attended along with their families. 6 A very special THANK YOU To Joe Campanelli s cousin, PAUL CARONE! Paul travels the length of California each year, from the Sacramento area to Santa Barbara to work at the I Madonnari Festival in UNICO s booth. He works all three days, all day, manning whatever station we need him to handle he does it all. His energy and enthusiasm are contagious and very much appreciated! Thank you Paul! GRAZIE!!
