Sixty-five works of art were entered into the show. This exhibit runs through January 31. Artists should pick up their work February 1st or 2 nd. The February exhibit s theme is ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. Artwork for the month of love should be dropped off February 1 st or 2 nd. If you need to make special arrangements please leave a message at the DPAL desk for Barb Denny with your contact information. The exhibit committee will not be able to hang work that is brought in after the drop off dates. DANIELSON PURNEY YOUNG

2 GALLERY 2 SHOW, Chris Chlapecka During the month of February, Gallery 2 will be presenting the artwork of watercolorist, Dick Shipley. View his impressions of places and travels that he captured through his paintings. The reception will be held on Sunday, February 19th, from 2-4pm. Mark your calendar and join his family, friends, and students as we honor his rich and creative life through his art. DICK SHIPLEY BOARD NOTES from the January 12, 2017 Board Meeting Carol Kincaid Dan Anderson reported that there has been a generous response by league members to the Raise the Roof fund raising letter which was sent to the membership in December. Hopefully, more replies will still come in since there is no deadline for contributing. Our Education Chairwoman, Nancy Anderson, announced that our Winter/Spring adult and children classes are going well with very few cancelations. Plus, there has been a lot interest in taking Michael Latala s 2 day workshop in late February. Examples of his beautiful pastel work are displayed behind the front desk and in the front window Gallery 2 will be featuring several new shows this year with Peoples Resources young artists displaying there in July and Plein Aire artists displaying in September. Barb Denny and Chris Chlapecka, co-chairwomen of Exhibits, are hoping this use of Gallery 2 will increase exposure for the league. We are still in need of front desk staffers at the league. Ann Johnson, our Office Manager, will train anyone who is comfortable working one on one with people and has some basic computer knowledge. Yvonne Thompson reported even though we had less stock for sale this year in Yuletide Treasures, it still did very well with sales being only $429 less than in Plus, the Melted Snowmen were a great hit with 144 sold. Yvonne is resuming another league activity, Artisans Afternoons, in February with the first one scheduled for February 10th which will feature making a paper sculptured heart. Our new membership year started on January 1 so please remember that to exhibit in our monthly gallery shows and to receive discounts on classes you have to be a member.

3 Yvonne Thompson, Well, no one was more surprised this year than I! Considering many members were missing from the show we made $11, That is only a little over $500 less than last year! Truly amazing, especially as Bricks and Mortar stores seem to be suffering because of the move to internet shopping. Thank you to everyone who helped me, especially the team that helped to pack up the unsold items. Kathy and Robert Koch, Sharon and Carl Peters, Suzanne Massion and Pete Young. Thank them next time you see them for taking so much care with your unsold artwork. Thank you also to the following GEMS in the Yuletide Treasures CROWN! They all made over $500 in sales..being this is our Diamond Jubilee year, be forewarned. I will be exhausting all possible gem terms! I would like to hear from anyone who would like to be part of a team for next year s show. A lot of you have been my helpers and I hope you will continue to do that for my replacement. The main object is to find a team of members, each who can do a small part. It really is a lot of fun and a big moneymaker for both the art league and the exhibitors. 4 ROOF PROJECT FUND RAISING UPDATE Dan Anderson, VP Finance Our December fund raising effort has produced encouraging results to date. As of January 6, (just four weeks after the appeal went into the mail) we already have a response from 61 members who have contributed over $9,000 in total. Twenty-seven of these generous supporters donated $100 or more. Our sincere thanks to each of you. Donations continue to arrive and we are hopeful that this mailing will move us significantly closer to our remaining goal of $125,000. It s wonderful to be back in our old building with its fresh paint, new floors, enhanced lighting and a roof that won t fall down around our ears. All we have to worry about going forward is that pesky bank loan. Think of it as a bridge loan and we ll cross that bridge when we come to it. 5 Artisan Afternoons are back! Valentine s Day card Friday February 10th, pm at the Annex! Kay Wahlgren will host our little get together in February and show us how to make a stunning Valentine s Day card with paper sculpture. Kay and I will supply everything you need to create a card (or 2), so come and learn the technique of paper sculpture making a simple heart. What better way to show Husbands/Wives/ Daughters how special they are give them a Valentine s Day card made by you! Sign up at the Front Desk before Feb 9 th. $15 donation for our Raise the Roof fund! There will be time for Tea/coffee and social time after the program. Staying between the lines..coloring! Thursday March 16 th, pm at the Annex! Following the latest trend for coloring, come and have some fun with us. Bring your own, or use our supplies. Bring a friend or make new ones! We ll supply the tea, coffee and the camaraderie. No need to sign up, just turn up. No fee, but donations are accepted for Raise the Roof.
