4 Mission Statement The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Vision Statement Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide Purposes To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual fellowship To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for distinctive service in any field of education To advance the professional interest and position of women in education To initiate, endorse and support desirable legislation or other suitable endeavors in the interests of education and of women educators To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member women educators To stimulate the personal and professional growth of members and to encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action To inform the members of current economic, social, political and educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world society 4

15 Executive Board/General Session Rules of Order All Upsilon State members registered for the convention may participate fully in the business of the General Session, including voting. A quorum for General Session business is a majority of those registered at the convention. Voting members of the State Executive Board include state officers, past state presidents, and chapter presidents or their designated representatives, all of whom must be Upsilon State members. The treasurer, parliamentarian, and area coordinators are ex officio members without vote. A quorum for Executive Board business is a majority of the voting members. Only voting members of the Executive Board may vote on business delegated to the Board by the State Bylaws. When Executive Board business arises, the presiding officer shall notify the members. Chairs of standing committees may make motions related to the business of their committees but may not vote unless they are also Executive Board members. Any member may ask questions or debate during the business of the Executive Board; however, only voting members may vote, using the red voting cards. All main motions shall be presented in writing with three copies given to the presiding officer before the motion is considered. The member may wish to also make a copy for herself. Anyone desiring to present a motion, question, or debate shall rise, move quickly to a microphone, wait to be recognized, and then state her name and chapter. Those seconding motions are not required to rise or give their names. Debate shall be limited to two minutes per speaker on any one motion; no one shall speak more than twice on any motion without the consent of the group. Debate on any one question shall be limited to ten minutes; however, time may be extended by a 2/3 vote. Debate shall be alternated pro and con if both sides are represented. Officers and chairs presenting reports shall adhere to the time limit established by the president. Cell phones shall be silenced during business sessions. 15

Another advantage was all of the photos could be in color Published and mailed 1,190 copies of the spring 2016 issue and posted on website Worked with Webmaster Mary Zirkelbach to post both issues on the website Responded to requests and questions of members Updated several addresses at International Recommendations: If the organization goes ahead with only making the News Bulletin available on the website, a method needs to be arrived at that guarantees all members are notified it is posted. Also, we need to make sure that members without computer access receive copies. Mary Zirkelbach worked very diligently to make sure every chapter was notified, but we both believe there were glitches.
