County Executive Isiah Leggett and Gaithersburg Mayor Sidney Katz have partnered again to sponsor the fourth annual Homeless Resource Day on: Thursday, November 19, 2015, 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. - The Activity Center at Bohrer Park 506 South Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, Maryland Annual Holiday Celebration On Sunday, December 6, 2015, NPHC-MC will host it s Annual Holiday Celebration at the Smitheville School Museum & Education Center (811 E. Randolph Road Silver Spring, Maryland ) from 3:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. Annual Coat Drive National Pan-Hellenic Council Montgomery County, Maryland Chapter is collecting warm winter coats (new or gently used), hats, gloves, and scarves to help clients of Interfaith Clothing Center Rockville, MD. 5 Community News Montgomery County, MD Chapter Page 5 PpPage Page Meeting Dates September 4 Chapter Meeting October Council Approves Pesticide Restrictions After much debate and significant public input, the Council approved Bill that bans the use of certain pesticides on County-owned and private lawns, becoming one of the few jurisdictions in the nation to have such restrictions. The ban takes effect on County property on July 1, 2016, and on private property on January 1, We exempted agriculture, control of noxious weeds and invasive species, golf courses, situations requiring the protection of human health and the prevention of significant economic damage. Having dealt with breast cancer myself, I'm particularly sensitive to the need to limit our exposure to toxic chemicals. I'm glad we are taking the lead in protecting public health and welfare in this way. When an Omega looks in the mirror, A man of Strength, Heart, and Masculinity, When an Delta looks in the mirror, Looking back she sees, A woman of Sophistication, Love, and Excellency. When an Sigma looks in the mirror, A man of Honor, Purpose, and Ability. When A Zeta looks in the mirror, Looking back she sees, A woman of Trust, Action, and Ingenuity. When a SGRho looks in the mirror, Looking back she see, A woman of care, Soul, and Humility. When and Iota looks back in the mirror, A man od Distinction Progress, and Utility, Looking back they see, A long line of struggling brothers and sisters, To ensure our freedom and equality. Looking back they see, The ability to change the world In each of their founders' dreams. Looking back they see, The eyes of a nation focusing On what this world was meant to be. When a Greek l looks in the mirror, Looking back they shouldn t see, Colors, calls and symbols Misused to fracture and degrade a community. Looking back they should see, The collective gathering of the Divine Nine To unite and encourage A nation in need Because When a Non-greek looks at a Greek Looking back they should see, A helping hand, An encouraging heart, And a vision to succeed.
