Chancellor s Meeting No report from last meeting. Next meeting will be May 2, B. Approval of March Minutes and Treasurer s Report 1. March Minutes Motion to approve by Blake Bostick. Seconded by Precious Thompson. The minutes are sent out via , and any comments/questions/or changes should be ed to Ev Barrett (ebarrett@olemiss.edu). 2. March Treasurer s Report Motion to approve by Precious Thompson. Seconded by EJ Presley. The Treasurers Report is sent out via , and any comments/questions/or changes should be ed to Kristi Boggan (kboggan@olemiss.edu). C. Nominate and Vote on Staff Member of the Month for April Our new guidelines for Staff Member of the Month are on pages 3 4. Beginning this month, we will have online nominations which are made by the 5th of the month. The nominations for April are as follows: Liz Duperior, Ronny Ellis, Bree Gates, LeLe Gillespie, Jessica Hughes, Skip Langley, Carol Mahalitc, Shawnboda Mead, Dana Requet, Clara Rock, Cindy Rimoldi, Katherine Slone Kelly Houston passed out ballots since there were so many nominations. She will let us know by an who is selected as the Staff Member for the Month of April (see Addendum on page 2). 1

2 New Business A. Honey Ussery -Title IX Coordinator - Consensual Relationship Policy This policy is still in the review stage and hopefully will be finalized in the summer. Faculty members will not be able to date anyone in their department or any student who could possibly take a course that the faculty member teaches. B. Staff Appreciation Events Gazel is still finalizing these. Door Prizes Gazel has a Sign-up Sheet. T-Shirts see p. 5 for the design. Tickets for lunch and t-shirts Gazel may look into having two different tickets for each. D. New Officer Elections These elections will take place in May. Gazel if you would like to serve or nominate someone. E. Nominations for Awards Staff Member of the Year EEO Category nominations throug MyOlemiss. Overall Staff Member of the Year and Outstanding Team Award (see p. 6) nominations submitted by . Old Business A. Raffle Tickets Each member is to sell 50 tickets; ticket leaders will each have about 5 staff council members to keep up with the money Winners will receive: o 1 Dr. Dre Beats pill o 4 $100 gift certificates Committee Updates - none Announcements/Concerns - none Meeting adjourned 11:37 a.m. Next meeting: Thursday, May 4 th, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Institute of Child Nutrition Building Minutes submitted by Ev Barrett on April 28, Minutes revised and resubmitted on May 4, Addendum: After a run-off through voting, Kelly Houston announced on 4/25 that Jessica Hughes was selected as the April Staff Member of the Month. 2

3 Staff Member of the Month Nomination and Selection Guidelines Adopted: April 2017 Nomination Process Staff member of the month nominations will be submitted using this form: Nominees must be benefit eligible employees with a classified position. Nominators may be faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and/or community members. Nominations are accepted until the 5 th of the month. Any nominations received after the 5 th will be considered the following month. Staff Council members may be nominated for the award. However, a current Staff Council member is not allowed to nominate another current Staff Council member. Award Process Nominations will be compiled into a document and distributed to Staff Council members prior to the monthly meeting. Staff Council members should review this document and be prepared to vote by secret ballot at the meeting. Nominations are eligible for three months. A nominee who is not selected during the three-month period will receive an honorable mention. (Adopted October 2012) An employee is not eligible to win Staff Member of the Month more than once in a year. If a nominee has received the Staff Member of the Month award in the prior two years and there are other nominees, the previous winner s nomination will be pulled from consideration that month.

6 WHAT IS THE AWARD? WHO CAN BE NOMINATED? The Outstanding Team Service Award was created to recognize and honor dedication and outstanding contributions by a UM team of employees. The award will be given annually at the spring Staff Appreciation awards ceremony. Nominees must be full-time or part-time employees. Nominations should be for groups of two or more staff members who have worked together toward a common goal or mission, who have gone above and beyond in their service to the university. WHO CAN NOMINATE? HOW TO SUBMIT Any supervisor, manager or administrative head may submit nominations of groups or teams as candidates. The nominating petition must include the names of the nominees and describe the team s exceptional contributions and service to the university. Nominations can be submitted to gdgiles@olemiss.edu or delivered to Facilities Planning.
