1 Minutes of the 8/11/2016 Rifle River Restoration Committee General Meeting [ River View Campground & Canoe Livery ] [ 5755 N. Townline Rd, Sterling, MI ] 1) Call to Order General Meeting Chairman Matt Pollard called the meeting to order at 1:33pm with 9 people in attendance. ( 6 Members, 2 Partner Organization Representatives, 1 Non-Member ) 2) Sign In Sheet passed around and collected. (see attachment.1) 3) Additions to the Agenda Chairman Matt Pollard asked if there were any additions to the agenda for today s meeting, Jim Hergott had a couple of additions to discuss. (see attachment.2) 4) Approval of the May 12, 2016 Meeting Minutes: Chairman Matt Pollard offered the 5/12/2016 Annual Meeting Minutes which were distributed electronically for approval. Motion by Dave Neal to approve the minutes as presented, Seconded by Don Meyer. All others in favor. 5) Treasurer s Report: Jim Hergott presented and reviewed the Treasurer s report. (see attachment.3) Motion to approve the treasurer s report as presented, by Gus Chutorash, Janice Golda 2nd the motion, all others in favor. 6) Old Business: a. Streambank Erosion Project Todd Golebiewski reported a summary of the restoration project that was completed at River View Campground & Canoe Livery on Tuesday June 28, Dave Neal mentioned there was an article w/ photo about the event in the Ogemaw Herald. b. River Cleanup Project Matt Pollard provided a recap of the cleanup project which was completed on June 18, Gus Chutorash also recapped the Boy Scouts efforts of trash pickup throughout the season. Also a brief discussion of the event and ideas to improve upon for next year. c. River Map Project (Grant Project) Jim Hergott Reviewed of the progress of this committee s project (mapping public and private access sites along the river) which was put together and led by Tiffany Foco. Ready to begin the inventory of the access points. d. Membership Committee New member, Josh Liesen, only recent activity. 7) New Business: a. Establish a nominating committee: Officers positions for 2017 are open for election. Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer positions. If any dues paying member is interested in these positions, they may put their name into consideration at or within a short deadline (to be determined) after the next general meeting of the RRRC on October 13, 2016 at 1:30pm at Cole Canoe Base. Officer Elections for 2017 will be held at the 2017 Annual Meeting, date and time TBD. b. Program of Work Discussion Matt Pollard suggested a board meeting in Fall 2016 to focus on next year s program of work for the organization, before presenting to the general membership. Meeting scheduled for Thursday Sept 22, 2016 at 1:30pm at Cole Canoe Base.

Relief Michigan, tree planting study in Augres City and Standish. Planted 30 trees in each city, and 60 more Sept 24- October 10, Bulb sale, available online on tree-sale website. Hunting access program, signing up new lands for hunting access Electronics recycling program, research into setting up a potential program Frog-bit; invasive species removal project. Streamwater monitoring Bat Monitoring MISIN Invasive species reporting tool/app available on Smart Phone. Trout Unlimted, Mershon Chapter: Don Meyer Mershon Trout Unlimited President, Saturday Sept 17, 2016 Rifle River Cleanup Event. Generally scheduled for the third Saturday in September each year.
