1 MEETING MINUTES THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO The Wednesday, May 14, 2014, meeting of the Associated Students Council was held at 6:04 pm, in the Price Center East Forum, Speaker Colin King presiding and Clerk Hayley Weddle was present. The roll was called. The following voting members were present: Angie Aguilar, Robby Boparai, Gino Calavitta, Garrett Dempsey, Bryan Dierking, Jackie Doan, Joshua Fachtman, Igor Geyn, Joey Giltner, Amber Hawthorne, Kim Hong, Phillip Huh, Brandon Kim, Brianne Logassa, Liza Lukasheva, Sulochana Marpadga, Demi Mundo, Jesslyn Myers, Rushil Patel, Lauren Roberts, Adeline Rodriguez, Angie Saveedra, Dominick Suvonnasupa, Akshay Tangutur, Taylor Valdivia The following members were not present but excused: Salman Alreshed Allyson Osorio, and Parthu Kalva. The following non-voting members were present: Simran Anand, Allison Bagnol, Irene Chang, Sarah Devore, Sarah Harley, Kyle Heiskala, Sydney Johnson, Meena Kaushik, Colin King, Alex Noronha, and Matt Pavon. Council reordered to Campus Affairs. with a recommendation to approve the appointment of Jackie Doan as ERC Senator, effective immediately until appointment of successor; appointment of Melody Moteabbed as ERC Senator, effective immediately until appointment of successor; and the appointment of Caroline Hou as a First Year Senator effective immediately until the appointment of successor. Matt Pavon moved to approve the appointment of Jackie Doan as ERC Senator, effective immediately until appointment of successor. Irene Chang moved to approve the appointment of Melody Moteabbed as ERC Senator, effective immediately until appointment of successor. Irene Chang moved to approve the appointment of Caroline Hou as a First Year Senator effective immediately until the appointment of successor.

2 Public Input was given by CALPRIG, representatives from the Che Café, Jehoan Espinoza, and the MGC President. A Special Presentation was given by Zev Hurwitz and Jibah Khan, titled, Presentation on the Joint MSA/UJS Proposal to Improve Halal and Kosher Dining Options on Campus." Council reordered to campus affairs. Robby discharged to council floor with the recommendation to approve the Resolution to Improve Kosher and Halal Dining Options at UC San Diego (see Attachment 1). Irene Chang moved to approve the Resolution to Improve Kosher and Halal Dining Options at UC San Diego (see Attachment 1). A Special Presentation was given by AS Concerts and Events regarding Sun God Festival. A Special Presentation was given by Sammy Chang, UCAB Chair. Council reordered to New Business. Igor Geyn moved to allow the following legislation be added as New Business: Allocation of $ from Student Org Programming Unallocated to Sun God Archery for 2014 US Intercollegiate Archery Championship. Robby Boparai, reporting on behalf of the campus affairs committee, moved to withdraw the Approval of Letter Reaffirming the Resolution Condemning Cultural Appropriation at the Annual Sun God Festival at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) (see Attachments 2 and 3). Sammy moved to bring to council floor from committee the Amendments to the ASUCSD Standing Rules Regarding College Affairs. Sponsored by Meena Kaushik. Alex Noronha objected. Robby Boparai called the question, which was approved. Motion failed.
