Daniel Palay Moves to approve PBC; Bill # 310 VIII. REPORTS President, Harry Khanna Had meeting with Tritonlink- Academic Division elected this year. Task force is working hard. Dr. Fox wanted to borrow our cart. She wanted a five seater, unfortunately we have a two seater. We let her down. Meeting this week about the special election. First monthly Leaders Brunch was a big success. Next one will be March 15th. Staff is working on parking resolution. Associate Vice President College Affairs, Tanya Piyaratanaphipat Associate Vice President Academic Affairs, Rabia Paracha Associate Vice President Advocacy, Lindsay Root Vice President Student Life, Janine Dellomes Hi all! Hopefully you saw in my , I did fill the two vacancies on the USES Steering Committee. Jeremy Song and Michael Hirshman are now joining Chris Sholley and Veronica Arbuckle on this committee. If you would like their contact info to get in touch with them regarding any USES-related concerns let me know. Also, we will tentatively be having our end of council banquet after our last regular meeting on May 9. It will be in Ballroom B beginning right after meeting ends, probably around 8 or 8:30p. There will be food and we will be handing out superlative awards as well as Raising the Bar awards and prizes. The application for Raising the Bar will be out sometime first week of next quarter so look out for that. Also, if you need a new booklet or need a signature for a seminar you attended, see Lauren Weiner. I'll be ing the listserve regarding more details. I'd also like to put together some kind of directory or booklet showcasing our senator's project, so that it can be made available to the students so they know what their senator's did for them this year and Page 2 of 5
3 what else is still going on for them even once your term is over (like Adam's project to make a directory listing different small businesses in San Diego). Last Friday's Bear Garden was a success, even with the foamy beer situation. Hopefully you all made it out there. We have 2 Bear Garden dates set tentatively for April 13th and June 1st. 8 ASUCSD CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 1 ARTICLE V Duties of Officers Section 1. President (c) The President shall chair the Associated Students Cabinet, herein referred to as the Cabinet, which consists of the President, the Vice-Presidents, and the Associate or Assistant Vice-Presidents. Section 2. Vice-President Student Life (d) The Vice-President Student Life shall appoint or dismiss only the members of the Cabinet listed below in this subsection with the advice and consent of the Council. The term of office of each cabinet member listed below in this subsection expires when a successor is appointed. (1) Associate Assistant Vice-President Diversity Affairs (2) Associate Assistant Vice-President Athletic Relations (3) Associate Assistant Vice-President Programming (e) In the event of a vacancy in any Associate Assistant Vice-President listed in the previous subsection, the Vice-President Student Life may appoint a replacement on an interim basis for a maximum of twenty-five academic days with the approval of the President, provided, however, that this power may only be used once per vacancy. Section 3. Vice-President External Affairs (b) The Vice-President External Affairs shall appoint or dismiss only the members of the Cabinet listed below in this subsection with the advice and consent of the Council. The term of office of each cabinet member listed below in this subsection expires when a successor is appointed. 9 ASUCSD CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2 ARTICLE IX Amendments Section 1. Proposing Amendments The Council may, by a two-thirds vote of the entire voting membership, propose amendments to this Constitution. Section 2. Ratification of Amendments Amendments to this Constitution shall be ratified upon approval of two-thirds of the College Councils or a majority vote of the ASUCSD. Amendments must be ratified within one academic year of the date the amendment was proposed. Section 1. Amendments by the Council The Council may, by a three-fourths vote of the entire voting membership, propose amendments to this Constitution. Amendments proposed in this manner shall be ratified within one academic year of their proposal upon the approval of two-thirds of the College Councils or a majority vote of the ASUCSD. Section 2. Amendments by Petition To propose an amendment to this Constitution by petition, a petition containing the signatures of at least fifteen percent of the members of the ASUCSD must be submitted to the President. This petition must contain the text of the proposed amendment, and each signature must include a printed name, a signature, and the last four digits of the student s UCSD PID number. In the subsequent election, the members of the ASUCSD shall vote on the ratification of the proposed amendment. If sixty percent of students voting approve the amendment, the amendment is ratified.
