Regrets: Trustee Kiernicki and participating via tele-conferencing. 3.1 Share a Story École Edward Schreyer Junior Cheer Team placed 1 st in the level 2 category and École Edward Schreyer School Varsity Cheer Team placed 2 nd in the Cheer Evolution National Championship Competition in Niagara Falls by Jersey Day school participation in honour of the Humboldt Saskatchewan hockey team: Ecole Edward Schreyer School, Oakbank Elementary, Ecole Dugald School. Whitemouth Parent Advisory Council hosting 2 nights regarding internet safety and there will be a mock car crash on April 25 th to demonstrate distracted driving by Trustee Nichol. Youth Parliament represented by Oakbank Elementary, Springfield Middle School, Springfield Collegiate Institute and Lac du Bonnet Senior School by. Seven hundred students from Frontier, Sagkeeng and Sunrise School Division participated in WE Day regarding mental health by. Request: Action: To share a copy of the results of the Youth Parliament bills with the Board. Send a Board acknowledgment to the schools who participated in Jersey Day. 4.0 Board Delegation and School Division Educational Showcasing 4.1 School Division Educational Showcasing - Centennial School: Our Literacy Journey - David Ogren & Suzanne Dienstbier PowerPoint presented. 5.0 Minutes - Adoption/Received for Information 5.1 Minutes - April 3, 2018 MOTION #17-18/04-17/0161 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve the April 3, 2018 Board meeting minutes as presented. 4 7.2 Divisional Mileage Rate MOTION #17-18/04-17/0162 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve the divisional mileage rate as per the Province of Manitoba Rate for Employees Appendix E, effective July 1, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the divisional mileage rate will be automatically updated October 1st and April 1st. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 8 Nay: 0. The motion Carried Ecole Dugald School Project Update Highlighter will be posted on the website. 8.0 Board Business 8.1 Field Trip - Ecole Dugald School Grade 6 - Camp Arnes - October 3-5, 2018 MOTION #17-18/04-17/0163 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve in principle, the Ecole Dugald School grade 6 field trip to Camp Arnes October 3-5, 2018, subject to Superintendent's final approval. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 8 Nay: 0. The motion Carried Field Trip - Centennial School - Grade 5 & 6 May 28 - May 29, 2018 MOTION #17-18/04-17/0164 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve in principle, the Centennial School grade 5 & 6 students field trip to Camp Arnes May 28 and May 29, 2018 subject to Superintendent's final approval. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 8 Nay: 0. The motion Carried Motion to Rescind Motion #17-18/04-03/0154 (School Board Award - Gold Medal) by MOTION #17-18/04-17/0165 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve to rescind MOTION #17-18/04-03/0154: BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve the School Board (Gold Medal) Award recommendation as presented. 5 8.4 Motion to Rescind Motion #17-18/04-03/0155 (Diversity Procedure) by Trustee Nichol MOTION #17-18/04-17/0166 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approve to rescind MOTION #17-18/04-03/0155: BE IT RESOLVED that the Board adopt the Diversity procedure that supports Board Policy #12 as presented. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 4 Nay: 5. The motion Defeated. 4-5 has requested to be duly noted that she would have voted against the original motion if she was in attendance due to the possible legal liability implications of the motion. 8.5 BBDC Feasibility Study MOTION #17-18/04-17/0167 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board approves in principle, the letter of support to BBDC as presented.
