1 KAREN REFUGEE COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER & MONTHLY REPORT December, 2012 The Karen Refugee Committee,

2 Newsletter and Activity report December-2012 December is the month full of expectations, happiness and joy. It is the festive season and for many of us it unites the family members who are being separated. As the dark cloud in the sky slowly turns into a bright and clear sky, it manifests to us that there is hope for us in the future. It is the last month of the year which awaits us for the new year to come. For many countries, it is a leisure time and holidays for the workers, and students. And for the refugees, it is time where family members could have fun, organize activities and fun program, visitation to relatives and time of thanksgiving for being blessed throughout the year. The spending of this kind of good time seems to pass faster than the difficult time. Moreover, this is the month where the Majesty the King of Thailand celebrates his (85) years birthday. We the refugees, along with the rest of Thai people are happy to see His Majesty the King and the whole family with good health and strength. We also wish the Majesty the King with happiness and long live! For many refugees, the desire to go home is ultimately reaching it highest point with the promising changes in Burma, but the present ground reality is that, there is no concrete implementation of the progress taking place and the fear still remains in the mind of the people. Therefore, though we want to go home, we still have to wait patiently till the future is as bright as the sky. To our benefactors who have been feeding us for many years, will need to continue to support us till we could go home, if not we will be facing our own fate in the end. We would like to thank all the individuals and organizations who have been good and helping us, as you await to enter into a new year, may there be peace, happiness, and success to you all! Your comments and suggestions are kindly welcomed!
