AAROC is a local chapter of the national Alfa Romeo Owner's Club and is dedicated to the enjoyment of Alfa Romeo Automobiles and the advancement of the Alfa Romeo marque. Subscription to this newsletter is included with membership to the national Alfa Romeo Owner's Club and expressed affiliation with the Arizona Chapter. Classifieds, contributions, and criticisms are welcome and should be addressed to the editor by mail, phone, or . Meetings General meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. The meetings are held at an appropriate Italian restaurant (see the latest newsletter or club website for details). Board meetings, open to all members at the discretion of the board, are held two weeks prior to the general meeting. 3 Active Rumors From the Editor Greetings Alfisti, were vintage machines. Good to see the newer cars and their owners joining the fun. See you at the dinner meeting on the 25 th. Arrivederci, Dick Spring has sprung here in the Sonoran Desert. The Palo Verde trees are brilliant yellow, the Ocotillo are orange, and the Saguraro cacti are starting to bloom. The temps are ideal for a drive. This weekend we head to Jerome for an overnight stay. Our route will be along some of the best roads in Arizona; Wickenburg over Yarnell hill to Prescott, then on to Jerome via 89A over Mingus Mountain. This is always an exciting drive with twists, turns and Red Rock vistas as we approach our destination. In May there was talk of a day trip to the Olive Mill. We'll have more on that later. On the 27 th of May, Sharon and I will host the annual Indy 500 party. Since we live in Surprise, this will be a road trip for our East Side friends. We are a car club after all. Hope you can join us. Check our AROC calendar for all the details. Thanks go out to Clint and Marian Miller for hosting a wonderful happy hour at their Carefree home. Thanks also to Russ for planning the day. We met at Einstein's Bagels at the corner of Scottsdale and Pinnacle Peak Roads. The party had begun. Russ led us to the Sundial in Carefree where we enjoyed the park-like atmosphere and great company. We were given driving instructions to the Miller's house, taking the scenic route through the Carefree neighborhoods. When we arrived, Clint and Marian were putting out the wine, cheeses, and other h'orderves. Clint, an architect, pointed out some of the historically significant Carefree homes, and gave us a brief history of the area. We had a good turnout, with 7 Alfas on the tour. Four of them were new Giulias, and only three The Sundial
