We had over 90 members and friends attending. We were honoured to have the Director General Judy Wong and Deputy Director Derek Wang from the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office, Commissioner Vincent Liu, Jack Wu and Councilor Jennifer Yang and other esteemed community leaders sharing the wonderful celebration with us. We all enjoyed the sumptuous dinner and crackling roast pig. Special thanks to Director General Judy Wong, Derek Wang, Jack Wu, Vincent Liu, members and friends for donating the raffle prizes that added to the highlights and cheers of the evening. Thank you to Georgiana Chan, Angela Poon, Edward Chan and Penny Lam for singing the 賀年歌 for us. Being 年初七人日 we also celebrated Happy Birthday On Sunday 8 th March, we had Chinese Medicine Practitioner Dr. Sam Feng given us a talk on joints and muscular pains and explained the benefit of 湯水. Following that we had 靜坐氣功 class with Master Kon Chen. We all gained some health benefits and knowledge from Dr Feng and Master Chen. On Sunday 12th April, we had our BBQ at Finns Reserve, Templestowe. It was very well supported with over 60 members, families and friends attended. We all shared a harmonious family and friends gathering. Thank you to everyone for helping with the BBQ and for bringing so much delicious food to share and made the BBQ a great success. Special thanks to Vincent Liu for providing the soft drinks. After the BBQ, we had a leisurely walk along the Yarra River. The weather was beautiful and we all had a great time. The newsletter can also be accessed at our website when it is re-launched, expected to be in July Upcoming Events 10 May 2015 No club Activity as the scheduled meeting has been cancelled Due to the fact that Sunday 10 th May is also Mother s Day and a number of members have indicated unavailability to the meeting we have decided to cancel the May s Meeting and Dinner. 14 June Sunday at 3:00pm Sunday gathering - at the Forest Hill Horticultural Centre 82 Jolimont Rd., Forest Hill. We are delighted to have our committee member Mr. Frankie Tang, a senior Financial Planner, to give us a talk on Is Australia Housing Overvalued? He will also cover the Reserve Bank of Australia Discussion Paper RPD as prepared by Ryan Fox and Peter Tulip. This sounds like an interesting topic and should provide some perspectives on the property markets. Following the financial talk, we will have our second 靜坐氣功 class with Master Kon Chen. Afterward, you are most welcome to join us for dinner at the Golden Dragon Palace, 363 Manningham Road, Templestowe. 12 July 2015 Sunday at 3:00pm Sunday gathering- at the Forest Hill Horticultural Centre 82 Jolimont Rd., Forest Hill. This will be a fun day with the Christmas in July theme. There will be Karaoke, games and instead of the usual afternoon tea we will have 打邊爐. The club will provide some vegetables and tofu but please BYO favourite meat to cook. Following that we will have our third 靜坐氣功 class with Master Kon Chen. 3 9 August 2015 The Hong Kong Club Inc. Annual General Meeting (AGM) Our AGM is scheduled to take place on Sunday 9 th August More information including nomination detail will be included in our next newsletter. To be eligible to nominate or vote at the AGM your membership must be current so please be reminded to renew your current membership when it expires on 30 June 2015 (except for permanent members). Club News Website The club s website is being updated and is expected to be re-launched early July 2015 New members We would like to welcome 2 new members; Mr Andy Ng, an Estate Agent and Mr Frank Ng, a practicing lawyer.
