Furthermore, we investigate any legislation concerning motorcyclist locally, statewide or nationally. Finally, we will engage in charitable activities befitting our organization, and benefiting both the motorcycle community and society at large. 1

2 NJMA CHAPTER MEETING 12/3/2003 President Biff Crossley called the meeting to order at 07:35 PM. There was a: Salute to our American Flag Moment of silence for all of our fallen Brothers and Sisters Welcome to all of our brothers and sisters SECRETARY S REPORT Sideshow read the minutes from the November meeting, and the membership approved them as read. TREASURER S REPORT Barbara Gesner read the Treasurers report, and it was accepted as read by the membership. COMMITTEE REPORTS PRODUCTS: There was no new info to report. MEMBERSHIP REPORT: We welcomed new members to the meeting this month. RIDER EDUCATION: Barb Gesner passed her class, and is now a licensed motorcycle driver, congratulations Barb. GOOD AND WELFARE: The club welcomed George Williams and his wife to this month s meeting. Welcome back, good to see you are feeling better. MEDIA RELATIONS: There was no new info to report. NEWSLETTER: Missed January s issue (Holiday s you know), but we should be on track now! Please note that the NJMASW Newsletter address will be changing from NJMANEWS@AOL.COM to NJMANEWS@COMCAST.NET! All the nomination were in, so will proceed to the voting. NEW BUSINESS: The elections were held, and the new NJMASW Officer and Board member s for 2004 are as follows: President: Biff Crossley Vice President: Sideshow Secretary: Frank C. Maimone Treasurer: Barb Gesner Trustee: Danny Coleman Trustee: George Williams Trustee: Father Paul Van Sant Thank you all who attended the meeting and voted! As always YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!! 4 MEMBERSHIP REPORT: We welcomed new members (Scott Brown and Lee Rappaport) to the meeting this month. RIDER EDUCATION: Lee Rappaport and Ed Macy volunteered to track related State legislation. GOOD AND WELFARE: George Smith s bike is in the shop (is that at last or again?). Mike Flemming went down on Monday night on the wet road. He s not hurt bad, but his bike has top go to the bike hospital. George Smith volunteered to help him get it to the dealers. Lee Rappaport s Wife had a knee operation. Keep them all in your prayers. Thank you to George and Brenda for the great food. MEDIA RELATIONS: There was a report that, because of them Orange Alert, a woman on a flight from France to Cincinnati was detained. It turn out that she was wearing a heated riding jacket (with internal wires). NJ Senate approves "Safe Corridors" legislation The "Safe Corridors" bills (A3527/S2456) sponsored by Assemblymen Gary Guear and John Wisniewski and Senators Shirley Turner and Leonard Lance, authorize the designation "Safe Corridors," and double fines for speeding and aggressive driving within those corridors. These include: 7

8 ROUTE TOTAL CRASHES FATALS 1 7, , , , , , , , , , , , In addition, the bills also double fines on stretches of Interstates 78, 80, 287 and 295 that are not currently posted at 65 miles per hour; increase fines for out-of-state overweight trucks, making violators subject to the same fine schedule as New Jersey based carriers; and uses increased fines to establish a "Highway Safety Fund" from fines that will be used for highway safety programs and enforcement by State Police and local police departments. The legislation also allows for NJDOT to repeal the Safe Corridors once accident and fatality rates decrease.
