American Bikers Aimed Toward Education is a not-for-profit corporation formed to promote and protect the interests of New York State motorcyclists. ABATE monitors and interacts with the legislative process, enhancing the image of the sport and providing educational and social opportunities for members as well as nonmembers. ABATE will continue to strive to become acquainted with both the issues and the people of the motorcycling community. WE ENCOURAGE ALL OUR MEMBERS TO BE IN- FORMED REGISTERED VOTERS. 3 Chapter Meeting February 19, 2017 Called to order: 12:34pm Pledge of Allegiance Moment of silence Roll Call: President/VP/Treasurer/Secretary & Newsletter/Road Captain/Legislative Assistant/Sgt. At Arms ABSENT: PR President Report: none at this time. VP Report: none at this time. Secretary Report: none at this time. Newsletter Report: none at this time. Legislative Report: Motorcycle Safety Program (new and advanced riders) You receive a discount on your motorcycle insurance after completing this. Nothing new-no movement on ANY bills. There are copies of bill information, if you want them. There are links to all information regarding motorcycles on the website. Treasurer Report: December report read: motion to accept 1st-Bob-2nd-Dan (all in favor) January report read: motion to accept 1st-Bob-2nd-Wayne (all in favor) Event summary-super Swap-we made a profit. Membership Report: 194 total. The state has authorized us to give out free associate memberships (NEW MEMBERS ON- LY) Sgt. At Arms Report: Willing to take information to local motorcycle clubs regarding free memberships. Road Captain Report: All set for Blessing-working on other runs. Products Report: Hoodies are in, Let Jerry know if you want any products. Hoodies that were ordered and not picked up are being sold-see Jerry. Plenty of products. Koozies with our events listed on them. Blessing stickers coming soon. Old Business: Chili Cook-off went well-good time was had by all. Seminar-January 14 at the Turning Stone-Several speakers and Ben talked about insurance information. Driverless vehicles-mrf is looking into this how to keep us safe. Super Swap-Thank you to Sue for selling all the 50/50 tickets!! Thank you to all volunteers. Pool Tourney-March 18-sign-up at noon-2 tables-$10-start at 1 pm. Prize money determined by how many players. New Business: Blessing-April 30-stickers will be white with red letters. PLEASE NO DRINKING ON CHURCH PROPER- TY AND PLEASE PICK UP YOUR CIGARETTE BUTTS!!! (If we do not comply, Monsignor may not have us back. Suggestion-clean up crew after event. May 28-Watchfire-we would like to set up a tent (Jerry will find out). Rolling Thunder in Washington DC-Jerry has information if you are interested. June 03-Joker Run. July 01-Helmet/Memorial Run-$5 donation and WB volunteered to go early and set up. State Chapter meeting-february chapters attended-revamped the free year membership. May 15-Freedom Rally in Albany-more information to come. There is an anti-profiling bill (A481)-please senate republicans to support this bill. PR (state) Officer to go on a program on I Heart radio to promote motorcycle safety.
