2 Secretary: Barb Harris Minutes of May,2013 Meeting Minutes of Meeting Winnipesauke H.O.G. Chapter 2529 Meeting May 12, 2013 Meeting commenced at 9:10 am at Laconia Harley Davidson. The meeting was called to order Director Rick Bassett after a word from our official greeter who extended Happy Mother s Day greetings to all of the moms present. Secretary s Report: Motion to accept the minutes as written in last month s newsletter and on the website. Membership : Rick reported for Fran on 7 renewals and 4 new members bringing the total membership count to 170. Treasurer s Report: Skip gave an update of all income and expense information and entertained questions from the group reporting a balance of $2, Road Captain Report Tony reported on a recent Road Captains meeting where procedures were established regarding standards for group rides. All equipment was inventoried and vests were distributed that are uniform with patches indicating our chapter and road captain status to distinguish those in charge of the rides. Radio communication will be available for the Road Captains for each group ride. It was reinforced that no blocking of intersections and not stopping for red lights will be the acceptable methods for conducting group rides. Ladies of Harley Barb reported on a recent organizational meeting. The group looks to be totaling approximately 10 interested women. The Chapter Ride Schedule was distributed and those in attendance were encouraged to join in for those rides. There is a section of our website that will include news and information on Ladies of Harley, but is under construction currently. As this is a new group, Barb encouraged participation and ideas and suggestions for how this group would like to proceed. All interested are asked to her at bharrisfriends4eva@gmail.com to get added to the mailing list. Also the Ladies were asked to think about taking the Experienced Rider Course and qualifying to become Road Captains for our Chapter. The ERC class will be held in May exact date to be determined. Ride Committee Carl asked for feedback from members following group rides that can be used for planning the schedule for next year. Please post comments and pictures on the HOG Face Book page and join it if you haven t already. Reminder that the dealership phone line is up and running and will be updated with HOG information on an on-going basis. The number is check it out. Dealer News: Rick shared that the dealership has two upcoming Pig Roast events and a dealership ride on May 18 th. New Business: Rick shared with the group that one more radio is needed to enable communication for all road captains on group rides. A motion was made, seconded and approved to purchase a new radio at an approximate cost of $145. Iron Adventure Run - Shawn Dimack Assistant Volunteer Director for Iron Adventure Run (formally known as 5 State Rally) was introduced and addressed the group on the event in August. He advised that there are only 24 rooms left at the host hotel which is the Jackson Gore Inn. There are other local hotels that are not so pricey in the area. He shared with the group that HD now has a new CEO that is encouraging the change in the format of the event. Owners of motorcycles that are not Harley Davidson are encouraged to attend this event. There has been a great deal of controversy regarding this change. Shawn shared the schedule of events with the group and also that they are looking for Road Captain volunteers as well as general volunteers for the event. If anyone can devote some time they are encouraged to check out the website and sign up to volunteer for the event. The motto for the event is sponsored by HOG fueled by Harley as this is no longer a HD only event. Continued on page 3
3 Continued from pg. 2 After much discussion by the group and questions that were addressed by Shawn, it was decided that we would encourage our members to send their comments and questions directly to Shawn so that he could share the groups strong opinions and feelings about this new format. You can write to Shawn at Dimick143@comcast.net or his cell phone is Bob Dunlap addressed the group about today s ride to McKenna s in New London and got a show of hands (27 people) planning to attend the ride. The ride will leave at approximately 10:30 am. Release forms need to be signed by non-members participating in the ride. Bette requested a new version of Publisher that is needed to produce the newsletters. Approved by Rick. Next meeting will be on 6/9/13 (Bike Week) at 9am and will NOT be followed by a group ride. Meeting adjourned at 10:10 am. Respectfully Submitted, Barb Harris Ladies of Harley Barb Harris reported on a recent organizational meeting.
