2 PLAN TO ATTEND TO START 2016 The annual MOA legislative conference will be held on January 11, 2016 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.. This is an important event each year and this year is no different. There are a lot of forces trying to control optometry and it is important that we understand the legislative process and get to know our legislators. As we do each year, we will go to the Capitol Building in the afternoon to deliver cinnamon rolls to the legislators. We would like to have a great SLOS turnout, but if you cannot come all day, it would be great to see a lot of docs there for the lunch events through the Legislative reception. The non-deductible portion of your 2016 dues, the portion which is allocable to lobbying: American Optometric Association (AOA) estimated portion is 10%. Missouri Optometric Association (MOA) estimated portion is 16% Contributions or gifts to the American Optometric Association and the Missouri Optometric Association are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes. However, they may be tax deductible as ordinary and necessary expenses subject to restrictions imposed as a result of association lobbying activities. There are a variety of billing and payment programs for MOA/AOA dues available. Call the MOA Central Office, to learn more and arrange a personalized program. # # #
