1 MONTEVIDEO PUBLIC SCHOOLS REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING April 11, :00 p.m. DISTRICT BOARD ROOM ROUTINE BUSINESS ITEMS: Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance: A regular meeting of the board of education was called to order by Chairman Balken at 6:00 p.m. on April 11, Roll Call: Present were: Balken, Helgeson, Kluver, Kubista, Stenson and VanRavenswaay. Others present were Superintendent Heller, Principal Bergeson, Principal Huntley, Principal Grey, Principal Sprung and the Media. Absent was Sara Johnson, Student Rep. Approval of Agenda: Motion by Director Kluver and seconded by Director Stenson to approve the agenda as amended. The agenda was amended to correct an assignment location and a name. Motion carried. Motion carried. Policies/Procedures for Student Issued Chromebooks: Scott Ripley, Chief Technology Officer, discussed the policies and procedures developed by a group of teachers and administrators for the use of student issued devices (Chromebooks). This will be an action item at the May board meeting. ACTION ITEMS: Sale on the Refunding of Alternative Facility Bonds: Motion by Director Kluver and seconded by Director Stenson authorizing issuance, awarding the sale, prescribing the form and details and providing for the payment of $2,305,000 General Obligation Facilities Refunding Bonds, Series 2016A. Of the eight bids that were received, the low bid of % submitted by United Bankers Bank, Bloomington, Minnesota, was accepted. Upon roll call vote, all members voted aye, whereupon the motion was passed. Bob Mills Award Recipient: Motion by Director Van Ravenswaay and seconded by Director Stenson to approve the Bob Mills Award recipient. The recipient will be announced at the Staff Recognition Dinner on May 4 th. Motion carried. Flex Days for Social Workers/Guidance Counselors for : Motion by Director Van Ravenswaay and seconded by Director Kubista to approve the flex days for the social workers and guidance counselor as follows: Kathy Ward and Melea

7 Ellingson for six flex days each, Todd Swedzinski and Kristine Kirkeby for eight flex days each. We will approve the flex days for the Ramsey social worker when he/she is hired. Motion carried. Adopt School Calendar: Motion by Director Van Ravenswaay and seconded by Director Helgeson to adopt the school calendar as presented. Following are some of the important dates: August 29 First day of school for students Sept. 2 & 5 No school Oct. 19 Staff workshop day No school for students Oct MEA - No school Nov Conferences No School for students Nov Thanksgiving break - No school Dec. 23 Jan. 2 Winter break No school Jan. 16 MELT Day No school for students Feb Presidents Day Break No school April 13 Staff workshop day No school for students April 14, 17 Spring break No school May 29 Memorial Day No school May 31 Last day of school for students (unless make-up days are needed) Motion carried. Request Bus Transportation Quotes: Motion by Director Kluver and seconded by Director Kubista to approve the request for quotes for bus transportation for and , with the option of two additional one year contracts under the same conditions. Bids will be opened at 2:00 p.m. on April 25 th. Motion carried. Departure Times for Athletic Events: Motion by Director Helgeson and seconded by Director Van Ravenswaay to approve the change in bus departure times to allow teams to arrive at the contest site 60 minutes prior to the start of the contest during the regular season and 90 minutes prior to the start of the contest for a post season event.
