WIACNS Scholarship winner announcement done by Kathy Bruning recipients are Jen Popies and Cristin Phillips. Both are presenting at NACNS Conference, which will be good visibility for WIACNS at the national level. 2. NACNS DNP decision follow-up discussion led by Joe Beiler and Sue Holmes; NACNS had responded to CIOCNS that they are not going to Steering committee to

2 overturn decision, so decision made at Steering Committee that WIACNS not proceeding with response letter regarding this issue. However, idea brought up that perhaps WIACNS should consider supporting member to attend Summit event in Washington D.C. as a representative if these types of policy decisions will be discussed at that event. Discussion that for members to consider going, need to know what amount of support WIACNS willing to provide. Teri VegaStromberg made a motion to have Steering Committee decide on support amount in February meeting; motion passed. Jen Popies also shared concern for NACNS statement that in future will seek input from membership prior to major policy decisions, but only giving 2 week timeframe for this and has ed CIOCNS President to see if they share this concern. 3. Website: Julie Darmody not present, but Jan Ancona shared that request sent to Steven to see if there is a way for current members who have changed contact information, NACNS membership status, etc. to update their own information through the website (similar to how new members register). If this is possible, this will make keeping information list of members for Secretary as well as having info for NACNS updates much easier. 4. She will ask Alyson to send out call for members; Joe Beiler, Amy Shockley, and Pam Konrath stated during meeting they would be willing to serve. Request already sent to Steven; Julie will be asked to update group on if this is possible at March General Meeting.

3 Legislative update (Added to agenda) Tim Heyse presented following information regarding recent developments with APRN legislation: - Reaction by legislators to bill that was drafted as a result of APRN coalition seeking both Title Protection as well as other things such as admitting privileges and being part of pt. compensation fund was that we were asking for too much and implications too complicated. Therefore, agreement among coalition members to step back and redraft bill that addresses only title protection/licensure as APRN in WI (CNM group being pressured by their national group not to participate if bill revised to not include pt compensation and admitting, etc., but meeting between them and WNA/APRN coalition leaders to occur to try to convince them to allow WI CNM group to continue with coalition and only take this step for now). (APRN bill will not open prescriptive authority for any revisions/changes, as would make it subject to change by pressure/restrictions sought by other disciplines.) - Due to timing (re-elections pending), this redrafted bill will now be deferred until next session to lobby legislators, but Forbes will continue to speak with staffers during this time. Also Gina from WNA and Forbes (lobbyist) have been in contact with surrounding states who have recently been successful in pursuing APRN legislation to seek key learnings/language to use that have helped garner their success. Legislators currently hesitant to talk about the bill, as they are having a hard time understanding it has been narrowed in its focus; will be trying to key in on 2-3 points with legislators; still seek to leave rule making to State

4 Board of Nursing. - Recent decision by State Board of Nursing regarding adoption of rule revision wording to N8 that pertains to APRNs alarming in that former definition of collaboration reverted to; would require collaborative agreement when previous decision by Board had broadened definition of collaboration with other disciplines. Concern that APRN stakeholders were not asked for input regarding this decision, is not in accord with IOM report that found these types of collaborative agreements unnecessary as well as potentially infringes on APRN Fair Trade/ability to practice independently. Therefore, WNA/APRN coalition sending letter to ask Board to appeal this revision of definition and asking for each member group of the coalition to back letter and have logo included on it; Tim Heyse read letter. Joe Beiler made a motion to have WIACNS support the letter and allow our logo use on it, Sue Holmes seconded; motion passed. Further suggestion made by Teri VegaStromberg to have most recent IOM report citation included in letter; Tim will take suggestion back to APRN coalition. - Tim also stated that APRN coalition leadership would like members from each APRN group to attend next Board of Nursing meeting in Madison on February 11 th in person; Tim will have further details on the meeting sent to membership through our Secretary, Alyson. Treasurer Report Jan Ancona gave report that Checkbook Balance at start of 2016: $17, Eileen Tuschl will be taking over Treasurer office, and with this transition Jan, Brenda Larkin and Eileen will do an internal audit of WIACNS financial records. Jan has written checks since start of year; will provide updated balance.
