1 Deuel County Commissioner Meeting January 5, 2016 The Deuel County Commissioners met on the above date with the following officials present: Chairperson Steve Fischer, Commissioner William Klingman, Commissioner Jerry Radke, County Attorney Joel Jay and County Clerk Polly Olson. The meeting, notice of which was published in the Chappell Register as according to law, was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a moment of silence. Reference was made to open meeting laws, posted at the entrance of the room. The agenda was approved upon motion of Commissioner Fischer, second of Commissioner Klingman. Radke, aye, Fischer, aye, Klingman, aye. The first item on the agenda is the 2016 Re-organizational meeting. Re-organizational Meeting The first order of business was the election of a chairman. The County Clerk was instructed to accept a motion for the 2016 Chairman. It was moved by Commissioner Klingman, second of Commissioner Radke, that Steve Fischer be elected to serve as the 2016 Chairman of the Board. Fischer, aye, Klingman, aye, Radke, aye. The motion carried and Steve Fischer will serve as the 2015 Board Chairman. Upon motion of Commissioner Radke, second of Commissioner Klingman, the mileage rate to be reimbursed to Deuel County Employees will be set at. 54 cents a mile. *(Per Commissioner Minutes March 5, 2001, the rate will be the same as the one recommended by DAS; the rate has been set by DAS to. 54 cents, effective 01/01/16.), Fischer, aye, Radke, aye, Klingman, aye. Upon motion of Commissioner Klingman, second of Commissioner Radke, Clint Bailey was appointed County Highway Supt. / Zoning Administrator for the year Fischer, aye, Klingman, aye, Radke, aye. Anthony Krajewski will be appointed as Assistant Highway Supt. upon motion of Commissioner Fischer, second of Commissioner Klingman. Radke, aye, Fischer, aye, Klingman, aye. It was moved by Commissioner Fischer, second of Commissioner Klingman, that the Chappell Register and the Sidney Sun be designated as the Official Papers in and for Deuel County, and the Deuel County Website ( when available, shall also be used for notifying the public of upcoming events and the minutes of record in and for Deuel County, Nebraska for the year Radke, aye, Fischer, aye, Klingman, aye. It was moved by Commissioner Fischer, second of Commissioner Klingman, that the following persons be appointed to the Deuel County Fairboard. All persons are Deuel County residents and will be appointed members of the board for three years. The Deuel County Commissioners decided to add another board member upon recommendation of the Fairboard in 2006.) LODGING TAX COMMITTEE Upon motion of Commissioner Radke, second of Commissioner Klingman, Randy Shaw, Leonard Littlejohn, Cindy Williams are appointed to the Lodging Tax Committee for a 4 year term. (Committee members serve a four year term.) Other members are Brian Riggs of Chappell and Lori Zorn of Big Springs whose terms expire in Fischer, aye, Radke, aye, Klingman, aye.

2 Upon motion of Commissioner Fischer, second of Commissioner Radke, the following holidays were approved. WHEREAS, certain holidays are designated by statute as legal holidays and are usually observed by County Officials, and it is deemed advisable that the dates of such holidays be a matter of public record of Deuel County, Nebraska. Discussion was held regarding the sale of surplus equipment. Sheriff DeCoste presented a report of activities within his office. Full payment will be made after a walk through later this month. The total amount of the project will be paid out of inheritance. It is the intention of the board to transfer the budgeted amount from General back into inheritance as soon as account balances allow. The project was also partially funded by generous contributions made by the Virginia Smith Trust and the Buckley Trust.
