1 September 11, 2017 REGULAR SESSION The Board of Education of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District No. 202, Counties of Will and Kendall, State of Illinois, met in regular session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Plainfield East High School, S. Naperville Road, Plainfield, IL. CALL TO ORDER President Nichols called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following Board members answered roll call: Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Smith, Mr. Westfall and Mr. Nichols. Mrs. Drake and Mr. Robey were absent. Also present were Lane Abrell, Mina Griffith, Anthony Manville, Rick Engstrom, Glenn Wood, Linda Taylor and Charlotte Ward. ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Mr. Kirberg and seconded by Mr. Koch to adjourn to closed session at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of discussing Personnel: the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the school district to determine its validity; Collective Negotiations: Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees and Site Acquisition. Upon roll call vote, the following members voted aye: Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Smith, Mr. Westfall and Mr. Nichols. Motion carried. RETURN TO REGULAR SESSION A motion was made by Mr. Kirberg and seconded by Mr. Koch to return to regular session at 7:14 p.m. Upon roll call vote, the following members voted aye: Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Robey, Mr. Smith, Mr. Westfall and Mr. Nichols. Motion carried. RECONVENE President Nichols reconvened the meeting at 7:36 p.m. and the following Board members answered roll call: Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Robey, Mr. Smith, Mr. Westfall and Mr. Nichols. BOARD PRESIDENT S COMMENTS President Nichols held a moment of silence to honor the memory of those who died on September 11, 2001 due to the terrorists attack on our country. On September 13 th District 202 and Valley View School District will co-host a Community Resource Fair at Plainfield East High School. Dr. Abrell will host the first of three Community Coffees with the Superintendent on Saturday, September 16 th at the Administration Center from 8:30 a.m. 9:30 a.m.. BOARD SALUTES Mr. Koch saluted Principal Joe O Brien and staff for hosting tonight s meeting and for inviting them to the opening ceremony of the new field turf on August 25, Mr. Robey saluted Principal Ross Draper and staff at Plainfield North High School for inviting them to the opening ceremony of the new field turf on September 1, Mr. Westfall saluted Eichelberger Elementary School for the great job they did hosting Gatorfest. Ron and Kathy Kazmar were also honored at Gatorfest for their many contributions to the school community. QUESTIONS AND/OR COMMENTS None. CONSENT AGENDA Dr. Abrell reviewed the Consent Agenda items. Following due consideration, a motion was made by to approve the following Consent Agenda items: Personnel The Board of Education's ratification of employment or approval to employ certified and non-certified personnel, as well as the salary and wage placements, are contingent upon the results of all pre and post employment verifications required by law, regulations, policies and the Negotiated Agreements with the Association of Plainfield Teachers and the Plainfield Association of Support Staff as amended. 2 09/11/17

FOR INFORMATION Plainfield East High School Principal Joe O Brien and staff provided the Board of Education a presentation about their school and goals. Wilco will have Open House on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 7 p.m. 10 p.m.. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION STATUS We received three Freedom of Information requests since the last Board of Education meeting. 6 09/11/17
