1 January 9, 2017 REGULAR SESSION The Board of Education of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District No. 202, Counties of Will and Kendall, State of Illinois, met in regular session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017, at Wesmere Elementary School, 2001 Wesmere Parkway, Plainfield, IL. CALL TO ORDER President Smith called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the following Board members answered roll call: Mrs. Drake, Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Nichols, Mr. Westfall and Mrs. Smith. Mr. Slabich was not present. Also present were Lane Abrell, Mina Griffith, Anthony Manville, Rick Engstrom, Glenn Wood and Charlotte Ward. ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Mr. Nichols and seconded by Mr. Kirberg to adjourn to closed session at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of discussing Personnel: the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the school district to determine its validity; Collective Negotiations: Collective negotiating matters between the public body and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees; consider a matter pertaining to an individual student; and student discipline. Upon roll call vote, the following members voted aye: Mrs. Drake, Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Nichols, Mr. Westfall and Mrs. Smith. Motion RETURN TO REGULAR SESSION A motion was made by Mr. Nichols and seconded by Mr. Kirberg to return to regular session at 6:54 p.m. Upon roll call vote, the following members voted aye: Mrs. Drake, Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Nichols, Mr. Westfall and Mrs. Smith. Motion Mr. Slabich arrived at 7:00 p.m.. RECONVENE President Smith reconvened the meeting at 7:33 p.m. and the following Board members answered roll call: Mrs. Drake, Mr. Kirberg, Mr. Koch, Mr. Nichols, Mr. Slabich, Mr. Westfall and Mrs. Smith. 2 COMMUNICATIONS None. BOARD PRESIDENT S COMMENTS President Smith welcomed students and staff back to school and wished them well as we start the second semester. President Smith reminded everyone that District 202 will hold a random, online lottery for spots in next year s full-day kindergarten program. Registration will be from January 17 th to January 31 st. The actual lottery will be held on February 9 th. President Smith also reminded families and staff to complete the 5 Essentials Survey that is posted on the front page of all of our school and district web sites. BOARD SALUTES None. QUESTIONS AND/OR COMMENTS Community member, Tracey Smith, addressed the Board of Education regarding her the proposed change to the physical education/marching band waiver policy. CONSENT AGENDA Dr. Abrell reviewed the Consent Agenda items. Following due consideration, a motion was made by Mr. Koch to approve the following Consent Agenda items: Personnel The Board of Education's ratification of employment or approval to employ certified and non-certified personnel, as well as the salary and wage placements, are contingent upon the results of all pre and post employment verifications required by law, regulations, policies and the Negotiated Agreements with the Association of Plainfield Teachers and the Plainfield Association of Support Staff as presented. FREEDOM OF INFORMATION STATUS There were two Freedom of Information requests since the last Board of Education meeting.
