NEW BUSINESS/ FUTURE ITEMS/ ADMIN MATTERS ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION 1 67 Robert Street pre-application advice regarding demolition of existing house (Robert/Bowes) Overview of proposed demolition of existing house.

HM : Heritage Milton raises no objects to the demolition of the house at 67 Robert Street, but recommends that original materials such as original doors, trim, floorboards, hardware and beams are salvaged. Heritage Milton wishes to review the site plan for any new building proposed on this lot Commercial Street pre-application advice regarding demolition of existing house (Commercial/Pine) Proposed demolition of existing house. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton would wish to see information on the interior of the house at 72 Commercial Street prior to making any resolutions about its heritage significance Commercial Street pre-application advice regarding demolition of existing house (Commercial/Charles) Proposed demolition of existing house. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton has no objection to the demolition of the house at 141 Commercial Street. However Heritage Milton wishes to review the site plan for any new building proposed on this lot Bell Street site plan approval for new detached garage (Bell/John) Overview of proposed new detached garage. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton has no objections to the proposed garage at 121 Bell street. The committee recommends using two garage doors for the front Main Street South, Campbellville Severence (Main Street South/McLaren) Overview of proposed severance. Rec. HM :Heritage Milton raises no objection to the proposed severance at 254 Main Street South.

4 Town of Milton Date: May 14, 2015 Page 4 of #15 Side Road (15th Side Road/Sixth Line, Nass) pre-application advice regarding demolition of existing house Proposed demolition of existing house. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton is of the opinion that a Heritage Impact Assessment would be required if demolition of the house at 5448 #15 Side Road is proposed. This Gothic Revival style house is one of only four brick Gothic Revival style houses that remain in Nassagaweya. This house is also a rare example of terra cotta detailing; with the terra cotta likely having come from the short lived brick works in Campbellville. Heritage Milton feels that there is considerable scope for renovating and extending this house, whilst conserving its original brick form and terra cotta detailing. This terra cotta detailing adds considerable value to this unique Nassagaweya property. 7 Martin West Subdivision, Regional Road 25 proposed subdivision and Zoning By-law amendment impact on the Bowes Farmstead, 6311 Regional Road 25 and formed Bowes Methodist Church and cemetery at 6321 Regional Road 25 (Regional Road 25/Louis St. Laurent) Overview of proposed Subdivision. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton does not consider that the Heritage Impact Assessment for the Bowes Farmstead at 6311 Regional Road 25 fully reflects the cultural heritage significance of this property. If demolition of the house were proposed, Heritage Milton would wish the Heritage Impact Assessment to discuss more fully its design, historic and contextual significance, or to be peer reviewed. Heritage Milton is also concerned about the loss of setting of the traditional farmstead and recommends that the trees along the entrance drive are retained and incorporated into the subdivision as much as possible. The committee also recommends that the trees along the cemetery edges are retained or replanted to buffer this signifcant heritage resource from the new subdivision development. In addition the trees around the Bowes farmhouse should be retained to respect the traditional setting of this rural farmstead. 8 Proposed hosting of Provincial training session for Halton municipal heritage committee members Proposed training session, and potential dates.

5 Town of Milton Date: May 14, 2015 Page 5 of Mary Street pre-application advice regarding demolition of house and construction of coach house (Mary/Brown) Overview of proposed demolition of house and construction of coach house. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton reiterates its resolution from December 2014 with respect to 111 Mary Street Victoria Street pre-application advice regarding alterations and additions to the existing house and garage at 78 Victoria Street (Victoria/Elizabeth) Overview of proposed alternations and additions. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton raises no objections to the design of the proposed alterations and to the 38.33% lot coverage proposed at 78 Victoria Street. This is due to the fact that most of the proposed addition is in the back and would have minimum impact on the low density character of this part of Town s Character Area. M. Marshall declared a conflict of interest with this item and refrained from discussion. J. Smith took over the position of Chair. 11 Branthaven Subdivision, Bronte Street South proposed subdivision and Zoning By-law amendment Conservation Plan in connection with proposed relocation of Suiter Farmhouse at 1510 Bronte Street South (Bronte/Britannia) Overview of proposed relocation of Farmhouse. Rec. HM : Heritage Milton has no objections to the relocation of the Suiter Farmhouse at 1510 Bronte Street South, as outlined in the Conservation Plan, provided that the heritage attributes, as outlined in Conservation Plan, are conserved. However, the committee wishes to see the design of the additions to the house when they are available. The committee notes that a considerable number of mature trees will be removed from the property and recommends that the trees are provided at the back and side of the house to screen it from adjacent townhouses.
