Participats heard at the outset from the Taoiseach ad from leadig represetatives of all political parties ad groupigs preset from across the islad, as well as short remarks from represetative bodies orth ad south. Amog the key issues raised i these pleary sessios were: Challeges ad Opportuities Importace of cosultatio ad dialogue o Brexit Cotiued ucertaities ahead of formal UK otificatio ad the EU egotiatios Urgecy of actio to mitigate agaist Brexit implicatios, icludig o a all-islad basis A eed for a log-term visio for Irelad's future after Brexit Opportuities for Irelad i a chagig ladscape, e.g. i terms of ew foreig direct ivestmet, more diversificatio of trade, further deepeig of relatioships with other EU parters Key all-islad policy areas such as healthcare, tourism ad evirometal protectio The iaugural pleary meetig of the All-Islad Civic Dialogue o Brexit took place at the Royal Hospital Kilmaiham, Dubli, o 2 November This all-day evet was the opeig dialogue for a series of public cosultatios o Brexit ad was hosted by the Taoiseach, Eda Key TD, ad the Miister for Foreig Aﬀairs ad Trade, Charlie Flaaga TD. Participats heard cotributios from all parts of the islad, represetig a broad rage of over 180 civil society groups, trade uios, busiess groups, o-govermetal orgaisatios ad represetatives from political parties. (See list below) The Royal Hospital was full to capacity, with over 250 participats i attedace from all across the islad of Irelad (icludig 75 participats from Norther Irelad ad the border area), the coferece was live-streamed ad ca be viewed i full o the govermet s website The evet was covered by jouralists from over 35 media orgaisatios at home ad abroad. Discussios were positive ad solutio-focussed, with all itervetios carefully recorded to iform the Govermet's approach. Overall the Civic Dialogue process is both a opportuity for valuable discussios betwee Govermet ad civil society ad a key resource for the Govermet i terms of its approach to issues i the egotiatios ahead. These cosultatios complemet the various detailed studies ad aalyses commissioed by the Govermet o the implicatios of Brexit as well as the work takig place across Govermet uder the directio of the Taoiseach ad the Cabiet Committee o Brexit. Irelad s objectives i these forthcomig egotiatios are to esure that the best possible outcomes will be achieved for our citizes, for the ecoomy ad for cotiued peace ad prosperity across the islad. The Govermet cotiues to outlie these priority issues at all of our meetigs with EU couterparts ad with the UK govermet.
