The issues covered will include whether to refinance a primary residence or mortgage the vacation home, limitations on the ability to deduct expenses relating to the personal use of vacation homes, passive loss limitations on the rental use of vacation homes, the taxation of gain on the sale of a vacation home and possible avoidance using IRC Section 1031, and the intra family transfer of vacation home to avoid or reduce estate taxes and ancillary probate.
