If you missed it you really missed an interesting tour. I want to thank Janice McCampbell and Gayle Rose for their hospitality and a great presentation and tour. I also want to thank Dan Fuccella for arranging the tour. October 11 Joint Meeting and Tour of PCE with Carolinas Section 4pm BOD (both sections) 5pm Tour of PCE and dinner 6pm Speaker - Todd Bryant Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 11th and it will be a joint meeting with the Carolinas Section. We will meet at the Polymers Center of Excellence in Charlotte. There will be a tour of the facility followed by a presentation by Todd Bryant. His subject will be RJG products along with a demonstration. Please respond by Friday October 8th if you plan to attend. Thank you all for supporting our chapter. 3 October 11th Meeting Details Location: Polymers Center of Excellence, in the Dennis L. Hayford Conference Center, 8900 Research Drive, Charlotte, NC. 1. Please note that this is a joint meeting with the Piedmont Coastal Section, therefore the meeting will be on Tuesday October 11th 2. 4 P.M. Board of Directors (both Sections) 3. 5 P.M. Tour of PCE and Supper 4. 6 P.M. Speaker: Todd Bryant, and his subject will be RJG products and demonstration 5. Cost will be $20.00 (member) and $20 (non-member) Registration deadline: COB, Friday, October 8 (COB = Close Of Business) Special note: There will be an RJG class in one of the conference center rooms-they may join us for our meeting. 6 MEMBERSHIP REPORT Piedmont-Coastal Section S71 As of Oct 1, 2016 we have 185 members! Thank you for your support for our SPE Piedmont Coastal section. We have 185 total members (including students) as of Oct 1, We have 82 student members. Thanks to CCCC, NCSU and North Carolina A&T State University for their support. I encourage every member to sign up a new member for the year. Let s all work toward increasing our membership. If you have changed jobs or location, please send me a note. If you have any , employment, or phone number changes, please contact me as well. If you have someone you feel can benefit from joining SPE, give them an application or send me their name and I will submit it to SPE and have you as the referring member. Treasurer s Report- Lewis Wilson 1. Financial Statement: a. Bank Balance ending August 31, 2016: $20, b. Bank Balance ending July 31, 2016: $20, d. Change: $ c. Includes SPE rebates for two quarters: $ Will be posting tax report to the IRS at the end of September Membership Report - Tim Earley SPE National reports the Piedmont-Coastal membership as 185. Includes 82 student memberships carried over from last fiscal year. Student Membership: Need to update student roster. Education Report - Maury Balik 1. Kelsey Beal, last year s NCSU scholarship winner, has received the first half of the award. Will receive second half next semester. 2. The Board decided to support the Plastics Essay contest again this year. a. No more than 10 entries per institution. b. Prize is an ipad. Newsletter Advertising Report Tim Earley 1. Last year s newsletter income: $10, This year s newsletter pledges to date: $5,000. ($2,000 actually received) 3. Sponsor participation very quiet this year despite numerous reminders and enticements such as: a. Free ½ page company article to all advertisers. b. Inclusion of company information on the P-C Linked-in page Councilor s Report Rodney Joslin 1. Governing Body approved the following format: Established Governing Body and defined roles that will provide authority to make and change policy, but not by-laws. The Council retains ability to veto or override policy changes made by the Governing Body 2. Rodney has been appointed to the Executive Committee to fill a vacancy until the next SPE election cycle in June. 3. Rodney moved and Leon second a motion to have Clark Broome replace Rodney until the next SPE election cycle in June. Carried 4. SPE plans a dues increase effective January. Old Business: 1.
