1 RECORD OF BOARD PROCEEDINGS (MINUTES) March 14, 2011 A regular meeting of the Campbell County Board of Education was held on Monday, March 14, 2011, 7:00 P.M. at the Alexandria Educational Center, 51 Orchard Lane, Alexandria, Kentucky. In attendance at the meeting were: Janis Winbigler, Chairperson Gary Combs, Vice Chairperson Patrick Walch Rich Mason Superintendent R. Anthony Strong, Secretary Jason Reed, Board Attorney I. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order by Janis Winbigler, Chairperson. Approve Agenda 2739 Motion made by Combs, seconded by Walch, to approve the agenda per the Superintendent s recommendation. The Pledge of Allegiance was lead by Cline Elementary student Kelsey Owens. The District s mission statement was then read by Nathan Asbury. School Presentation Lynn Poe, Principal of Cline Elementary, thanked the Board for the opportunity to appear before them. Cline drama club students Trey Buescher, Nate Asbury, Kelsie Owens, Christianne Del Castillo, Julianne Del Castillo and Rebecca O'Brien performed a skit for the enjoyment of the audience. Our Stars The CCMS wrestling team has won the state wrestling championship for the 2 nd consecutive year. Members are: Jordan Hodge, Joseph Wilbers, Brady Wells, Jordan Hahn, Tanner Yenter, Ryan Moore, Jordan Boschert, Dakota Lillie, Clint Turner, Shawn McGrath, Brad Krebs Jacob Hornsby, Luke Youtsey, Collin Barrett, James Wilbers, Jared Stadtmiller, Bryan Spahr, Kevin Skinner, Logan Hounshell, Jake Shay, Brian Skinner, Ty Hines, Kole Shrock, Jordan Mason, Brett Graziani, Eli Matthews, Michael Trout, Jacob Eifert, Robert Metz, Trey Downton, Jacob Greer, Bryan Holden

2 Wrestlers pin down 6th place at state The CCHS wrestling team placed 6th in the state. Top finishers were: Eric Spahr - 7th place Paul Hamilton - 3rd place Mason Franck - State Runner-up Sean Fausz - State Runner-up Garth Yenter - State Champion Cravens named Coach of the Year Congratulations to CCHS Girls Basketball Ed Coach Cravens for being selected as the Kentucky Association of Coaches 10th Region Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Coach Cravens was selected by the 10th Region coaches. He will be honored at the state basketball tournament. Divers qualify for state Congratulations to Alexis Smith and Ally Baker who competed at the state diving meet last weekend. They are coached by Amy Dorsey, Lindsey Pryse, Sara Altenhofen District earns SACS accreditation The AdvancEd Ed accreditation group recognized each of our schools for achieving SACS accreditation. Each school has been presented a certificate to hang in their buildings. Board recognized by KSBA The Kentucky School Boards Association recognizes the Campbell County Board Team for its outstanding efforts in advancing student achievement and implementing all indicators of the Advancing Student Achievement to Proficiency Initiative. Board members recognized Two of our Board members have been recognized individually by KSBA for achieving the next level in the Kentucky School Boards Academy of Studies. Gary Combs has reached level 4 and Janis Winbigler has reached Level 2. As provided in agenda (as approved), the Board briefly recessed following the Our Stars presentation. II. ACTION AGENDA Approval of Schematic Design/Design Development Drawing and Associated BG-2 and BG-3 for Campbell County Bus Garage 2740 Motion made by Combs, seconded by Mason, to approve the schematic design/design development drawing and associated BG-2 and BG-3 for the Campbell County Bus Garage per the recommedation of the Superintendent. Approval of Schematic Design/Design Development and Documents Associated BG-2 and BG-3 for Campbell County High School ATC, Alterations and Stadium 2741 Motion made by Walch, seconded by Mason, to approve the design development and associated BG-2 and BG-3 documents for the Campbell County High School ATC, alterations and stadium per the recommedation of the Superintendent.

4 Graduation Date for CCHS Class of Motion made by Combs, seconded by Walch, to approve the Superintendent to work together with CCHS Principal Ms. Boots in setting the graduation date for the Class of 2011 per the recommendation of the Superintendent. Creation and Re-Instatement of Positions 2743 Motion by Mason, seconded by Combs, to approve the creation and re-instatement of positions per the recommendation of the Superintendent: One (1) part-time certified teacher for Campbell Lodge students Attached is a memo from Ms Kalb, Ms Jones, and Mr. Hill requesting this position. As noted this is a part time certified position that will work a maximum of 10 hours per week with the identified students at Campbell Lodge. Re-instate One (1) full time Maintenance Worker II Attached is a memo from Mr. Hill requesting the re-instatement of this position. Both he and Ms Alexander are able to answer any questions regarding this position. VOTE: Winbigler-Yes; Fangman-Yes; Combs-Yes; Walch-Yes; Mason-Yes. Reschedule of BOE April Regular Meeting 2744 Motion by Combs, seconded by Walch, to approve rescheduling of the April 11 Board of Education meeting to Monday, April 18 th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. per the recommendation of the Superintendent.
