1 MINUTES The Minutes of the First Regular Meeting of the Month of February of the Board of Education Township High School District 214 held on at the Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S. Goebbert Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois at 7:00 p.m. President Kreutzer called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and R. Knoepfle called the roll. The following members were present: Mimi Cooper William Dussling Mark Hineman Alva Kreutzer President James Perkins Dan Petro Todd Younger Vice President Absent at roll call: None Also present at the meeting were: D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES It was moved by Petro and seconded by Perkins that the Board of Education approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of January 19, 2017 and the Closed Session of January 19, SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT The following students were recognized for their achievements in the areas indicated:

3 Page 3 of 6 D. Schuler reported that there were no Freedom of Information Act responses sent out since the previous meeting. 4. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. 5. BOARD MEMBER UPDATES B. Dussling reported that the State Comptroller s office is approximately $5 million behind in remitting Illinois State Board of Education approved funds to the district. M. Cooper reminded everyone that on February 23, 2017, two of the district schools are participating in the Mock Trial event that will be taking place at the Rolling Meadows Court House. On February 8, 2017 the Rolling Meadows Court House will also be sponsoring Law Day, which will include approximately 100 students touring the Court House. M. Cooper also promoted the Online Auction that supports the District 214 Educational Foundation. The auction will be open February 19 through February 27, She encouraged everyone s support for this good cause. 6. APPROVE CONSENT CALENDAR through Items through appearing on the Consent Calendar were presented for the Board s consideration. J. Perkins requested that item be considered separately. It was moved by Petro and seconded by Cooper that the Board of Education approve Items through , appearing on the Consent Calendar as presented. A. Approve Accounts Payable Actual February 3, 2017 listing: Educational Fund Listing $480, Operations and Maintenance 253, Transportation Fund 226, Capital Projects 168, TOTAL $1,129, Checks Dated: February 3, 2017 Check Numbers: through B. Personnel Transaction Report Approved Personnel Transaction Report attached to these minutes.

4 Page 4 of 6 C. Destruction of Closed Meeting Audio Recordings Approved the destruction of closed session audio recordings for the following meetings: July 16, 2015 D. Capital Projects Program - Bids Approved the following bids, reject any alternates not included with these bids awarded and assign these bids to the construction manager, Pepper Construction Company: Woodland Commercial Landscape for landscaping in the amount of $37,800; Stonecast Products for precast concrete in the amount of $1,519, CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE JOB DESCRIPTION APPROVAL It was moved by Perkins and seconded by Dussling that the Board of Education approve Item appearing on the Consent Calendar as presented. J. Perkins requested that this item be considered separately to note the significant amount of work it took to review and revise all of the CMA job descriptions. D. Schuler noted that this effort was a very collaborative process with CMA president B. Feltz, other officers of the CMA, numerous CMA staff members representing the various job classifications, and the administration, including B. Lichtenberger, T. Birren, K. Bockwoldt, K. Liebe, and C. Johnson. There was no further discussion. Approved the modifications made to the Custodial Maintenance job descriptions as presented by the job description review committee as outlined in Article 22(F) in the Custodial Maintenance Association agreement. 8. CLOSED SESSION It was moved by Dussling and seconded by Cooper that the Board of Education convene in Closed Session for the purpose of discussing: o The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the district or legal counsel for the district, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the district to determine validity. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1), as amended by P.A ; o The placement of individual students in special education programs and other matters relating to individual students. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(10; o Litigation, when an action against, affecting or on behalf of the particular district has been filed and is pending before a court or administrative tribunal, or when the district finds that an action is probable or imminent, in which case the basis for the finding shall be recorded and entered into the closed meeting minutes. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(12);

5 Page 5 of 6 o Collective negotiating matters between the district and its employees or their representatives, or deliberations concerning salary schedules for one or more classes of employees. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(2). The Board convened in Closed Session at 7:35 p.m. 9. RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION The Board agreed to reconvened in Open Session at 8:14 p.m. 10. MATTERS PERTAINING TO AN INDIVIDUAL STUDENT It was moved by Dussling and seconded by Cooper that the Board of Education approve the placement of student # at North Cook Young Adult Academy for the remainder of the school year and the school year and require the student to follow the other administrative recommendations as presented. 11. PERSONNEL TRANSACTION REPORT II It was moved by Hineman and seconded by Petro that the Board of Education approve Personnel Transaction Report II, the Notice to Remedy for T. Davidsmeier. 12. PERSONNEL TRANSACTION REPORT III It was moved by Perkins and seconded by Petro that the Board of Education approve Personnel Transaction Report III, the reassignment from administrative classification to Education Association classification for N. Kane.
