3 Page 3 Update on ORF USO-Marie Madel My husband, Bob, and I traveled to the USO at the Norfolk Airport to deliver the donations from our November meeting. The picture shows our generous donations along with volunteers Connie Gallacher and Gary Sutor. On the right is Len Friddle, director. While there, we visited the Fallen Warriors Room, which is pictured below. It is a work in progress and is looking wonderful. I will give an update and provide more pictures when it is completed. We were honored to be present when Connie was presented with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award by Len! Connie has been our contact person for a number of years. Don't forget to provide donations for the USO at our January 23rd meeting. Suggestions are individually packaged food items, packets of water flavorings such as Crystal Light, toiletries (Liquids, pastes, and creams should be 3.4 oz. or less so they meet TSA requirements.), toys, crayons, and coloring books, and new or gently used books for children and adults. Also cash donations are greatly appreciated. You will receive a receipt for your tax records. Marie Madel

Organization Parwc History The Princess Anne Republican Women s Club was formed in 1989 to accommodate working women, as well as those who preferred an evening meeting. The original club applied to the Virginia Federation of Republican Women for our charter with twelve members and met at the Life Federal Savings and Loan building on Laskin Road. Jean Ford (deceased) served as the first president and has been followed by many capable leaders. The PARWC has tripled in membership, small in comparison to many clubs, but we boast that we have one of the most active clubs with members attending every meeting and participating in our activities. Our program emphasis is on political education. Over the years, we have held a number of fund raising events, most notable our annual sale of the White House Historical Society Christmas ornaments. Our largest fund raiser is the Star Spangled Ball which is jointly sponsored by the four Virginia Beach Republican Women s Clubs. Two thousand fifteen is the 26th Star Spangled Ball. The monies earned are divided equally among the clubs and are earmarked to support our Republican candidates. We are proud that two of our members have been named to judgeships in Virginia Beach, one of our members presently serves as Clerk of the Circuit Court, one of our former members served in the United State Congress, and two of our members currently serve on the Virginia Beach City Council. Our members have served or are currently serving on the Virginia Beach School Board, two have been elected to the Presidential Electoral College, and many others have held numerous positions in the Virginia Beach Republican City Committee, as well as serving as officers and board members of the Virginia Federation of Republican Women. We have managed campaigns and have had a viable presence in every Republican campaign since being chartered. Our Community Outreach projects have included the American Cancer Relay for Life, the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center Pre-school for at-risk children, the USO Support our Troops project, providing holiday bags for the Psychiatric Ward at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center, sending monthly boxes to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, contributions to Wounded Warriors, Operation Home Front, Hampton Roads Veteran s Parade, Southeastern Virginia Food Bank, and Wreaths Across America. The PARWC meets on the fourth Monday of each month, September through May, at the Virginia Beach Republican Headquarters. We host a holiday party in December and our membership picnic is held in May.
