2 Weekly Highlights November 2017 # of Provinces # of ND incidents Reported # of Joint Assessments Completely Destroyed Severely Moderately Deaths Injured # of Assisted by IOM Assisted by IOM Natural Disaster Update: Natural Disasters, Coordination and DRR activity UPDATE: November 2017 No natural incident reported during this week. Due to recent precipitation in various part of the country, provinces at high altitude have epperienced snowfall. aarious districts in Parwan, Panjshir, Bamyan, Daikundi, Lal Wa Sare Jangal (Ghor), Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Khost and Badakhshan provinces epperienced snowfall however no damages reported so far. Up to 50cm snowfall reported in Jaghori, Jaghato, Malistan and Nahwur districts of Ghazni, the main passes leading to Hazara Jat including Shamsuddin Kotal is closed due to heavy snowfall. A PDMC meeting will be held on 15 November to discuss the situation and cleaning the passes. Conflict IDPs Update: Nangarhar-Khogyani conflict IDPs: As per initial report obtained from ANDMA, around 2,000 families were reportedly displaced due to conflict in Khogyani district on 16 October. 32 Joint assessment teams consisting of ARCS, IOM, ACTED, DORR, WFP/PAT, NRC, APA, DACAAR and NCRO initiated assessment in various locations of Khogyani, Surkh Road, Behsood and Jalalabad districts. So far 7,258 families were assessed of which 4,787 families were verified in need of humanitarian assistance. 2,666 families were assisted by UNHCR, NRC, WFP, SCI, ANDMA, DoRRD, DORR and ARCs with the provision of NFIs, food items, tents, emergency shelter, winter clothing and cash assistance. The assessment and response is ongoing in various locations. 18 families displaced from Chaprehar district to Surkhrod due to intimidation by AGEs, this happened during the second week of November, the caseload will be assessed. Seven families displaced from Asmar district of Kunar province and settled in Behsood district of Nangarhar province due to intimidation by AGEs, the caseload will be assessed by joint assessment team. During last two days, 159 families displaced from Kunar (Shegal district) to Asad Abad due to cross border shelling from Pakistan. In addition, as per DoRR, 120 families reportedly will be displaced from Dangam district due to cross border shelling. North Region: Jawzjan conflict IDP: As per initial report obtained from agencies during PDMC meeting on 28 October, around 1,707 families reportedly displaced due to conflict in Darzab and Qushtapa districts. Two joint assessment teams consisting of WFP, ZoA, SCI, PIN, ANDMA, DoRRD, ACTED and ARCS were assigned to first verify the reported displacement and initiate assessment following verification. The team visited the areas with reported displaced families and verified families being displaced by recent conflict in Qushtepa district. So far 329 families were assessed of which 200 families were verified in need of humanitarian assistance. So far, 187 families were assisted by WFP, PIN and DACAR. Baghlan Conflict IDP: As per initial report obtained from ANDMA, around 522 families were reportedly displaced due to conflict in Cheshme Sher, Sorba of Boorka and Roe Doab (Samangan) districts in October. Three Joint assessment teams initiated assessment in various locations of Centre of Pole Khumri, Center of Borka and Pole Khumri city. So far 353 families were assessed of which 62 families were verified in need of humanitarian assistance. The response will be initiated following assessment.
3 Sare Pul: Reportedly families displaced from Jawzjan (Darzab district) and Sare Pul (different districts) to Sare Pul center. 288 families have been assessed so far of which 133 families verified for humanitarian assistance. The response to verified families is planned for nept week. Kunduz and Takhar conflict IDP: As per initial report obtained from ANDMA, around 1,792 families were reportedly displaced by conflict from Kunduz (Imam Saheb and Chagardara districts) and Badakhshan and Takhar (various districts) two Kunduz and Takhar provincial center. Joint assessment teams have initiated assessment in various locations in Kunduz center, so far 330 families assessed of which 76 families verified in need of humanitarian assistance.the assessment is on- going in Kunduz while the assessment in Takhar will be initiated nept week. South Region: Helmand Conflict IDP: Assessment of conflict IDPs in Helmand province concluded on 09 November The joint assessment team verified 144 families in need of humanitarian assistance, the families were assisted by WFP, ACF and IRC with the provision of NFIs, food items, hygiene and cash. Uruzgan Conflict IDP: Assessment of conflict IDP in Tarinkot city concluded. The families were displaced from various districts of Uruzgan province. The joint assessment team verified 146 families in need of humanitarian assistance. UNHCR, UNICEF, WFP and NRC distributed NFIs, food items, hygiene and cash to all families. Kandahar Conflict IDP: Assessment of conflict IDPs in Kandahar city concluded on 26 October. The families were displaced from Uruzgan, Helmand and Kandahar to Kandahar city. The joint assessment teams verified 104 families in need of humanitarian assistance. NRC, WFP, DACAAR, SCI and UNHCR distributed NFIs, Food items, hygiene and cash to all verified families
