If you like the sun and sand then the 2016 Royal Rosarian Auction is where you need to be. Several vacation opportunities will be featured at this year's event. Here is one of the sunnier items. Donated by Janis and Kim Wold (Marie Saturn's cousin), this is a one week stay in a two bedroom, two bathroom condo located just steps from the beautiful beach of Rincon de Guayabltos, Mexico (fly to Puerto Vallarta). You can also beat the rain by replacing that leaky roof. Clow Roofing and Siding has again teamed up with Malarkey Roofing to provide an auction item that will keep you dry for the foreseeable future. Duke Denny Baker can provide all the details for this popular item. Maybe your idea of relaxing involves a fishing pole. Patricia and David Hufford have been kind enough to donate a fishing trip for two to Cold Bay, Alaska.

Other valuable auction items include a 7-day cruise from any one of five different ports. The Caribbean, the East coast and Western Mexico are three of the areas that you can choose as departure locations. Airfare is also included in this exciting travel opportunity. Other fishing trips, a day with the Oregon Duck football coaches and players, TVs, ipads and other electronics, are just a few of the offered items. With your help and support this year, the goal is to raise at least $150,000 for Rosarian-supported programs and events. But time is running out. Mark your calendar now for the Royal Rosarian "Newsmakers of the Year Awards Banquet" being held on Wednesday, March 16 at the DoubleTree Lloyd Center Hotel. Royal Rosarians will be honoring some of the heroes and heroines in our community who have performed exceptional acts of heroism or benevolent service without regard for personal safety, public recognition, or personal gain. The newsrooms of prominent Portland area media select the Newsmaker honorees. K103-FM morning radio personalities John Erickson and Bruce Murdock are once again the

3 Masters of Ceremonies for the evening as media representatives present their Newsmakers and their newsworthy stories to a banquet audience of approximately 300. Each Newsmaker is awarded a Royal Rosarian bronze medallion and a framed certificate by the Prime Minister. 4 More from South America This group of stalwart Royal Rosarian mountain climbers proudly pose amongst the ruins of Machu Pichu in Peru. These travelers are those who extended their trip, declaring they would follow the Prime Minister to the ends of the world. Kimberly and Stephen Bown demonstrate their ability to blend in with the beautiful and ancient scenery surrounding them. Duchess Sue Klobertanz adjusts the welcoming banner with the help of Sir Knight James Brennan as they prepare to welcome the Prime Minister and his traveling companions home on Monday of last week. About a dozen Rosarians were on hand to greet the weary travelers. Considering their long flight home, they looked great and could only speak about how much they enjoyed the trip.
