2 A New Year s Newsletter Resolution Starting with the 2017 newsletters I would like to make it worthwhile to you the members. I would like for you to send in articles you have seen of interest about Cadillacs. This could be about maintenance, upkeep, the latest trends, or even things you have found to help you. If it is in a magazine cut it out and send it, I will try to scan it and make it readable for everyone. If it is in an online presentation, send me the link or me and tell me how you found it so I can see if I can get it included. If you feel so inclined, write an article...i know we have some members who have a bunch of knowledge and experience when it comes to working on Caddies. So don t be shy, pull out that pen and paper and get busy, you might when a Pulitzer Prize! It doesn t have to be automotive related. If you have a favorite joke (only clean ones!!!), a cartoon, or some other clever anecdote, send it in to be considered. I have asked in the past for Birthday (age not required, date only) and Anniversary wishes, birth announcements, and other family happenings you would like to share with our membership. Since our Region is the state of Wisconsin, I think it would be beneficial to all the members if you were to jot down some facts about yourself and how you got started with your Cadillac. Let us know a little about yourself, or where you live. If possible include a picture of yourself and your car or cars. It doesn t matter where you live, all the members would like to see and hear about our mutual hobby interests. There are many times I am trying to find something of interest which you might want to read, be it related to the cars or just about the well being of our Badger Region Family. Either way I could use your help. BOTTOM LINE: PLEASE SEND ME ITEMS FOR THE NEWSLETTER Please send s to: editor@badgerclc.com Mail address: 8350 S. Orchard View Ln., Oak Creek, WI Thank You for your help and participation, Dan Cress, Editor of The Enlightener BADGER REGION CONTACTS Director Ron Wichinski (262) director@badgerclc.com Assistant Director Thomas Sanders (414) thomas.sanders18@yahoo.com Secretary Bill Klemp (262) secretary@badgerclc.com Treasurer Dan Cress (414) treasurer@badgerclc.com Membership Rob Martin (262) membership@badgerclc.com Activities Director Larry Hansen (262) activities@badgerclc.com Newsletter Editor Dan Cress (414) editor@badgerclc.com Website Contact Jake Jakus (414) info@badgerclc.com CLC Board Representative Dave Meisenheimer (262) ddmeisenheimer@aol.com The Enlightener is published at least eleven months a year and distributed to Badger Region Cadillac and LaSalle Club members on the current roster. Members are welcome to submit Cadillac and LaSalle related For Sale ads. Please make sure you have a description of the item or car, contact name, phone number, address (if possible) and always include a selling price or your ad will not be included. 3 FOR SALE Contact Cory at Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Maroon w/grey leather interior New radiator & battery Nice car 122k Miles $2,800 Did you hear about the person who called the airline customer service desk to ask if they could take their dog on board? Sure, said the agent, as long as you provide your own kennel. The agent added that the kennel needed to be large enough for the dog to stand up, sit down, turn around, and roll over. The customer was confounded: I ll never be able to teach him all of that by tomorrow! NEW MEMBERS I have been remiss over the past few months in introducing new members. Please welcome them to our Badger Region Family. Chaz Bartucz Kenosha, WI A Message from Lars Anderson Free first year membership in National Antique Automobile Club of America. 5 Driving to the Grand National? By Bill Klemp My wife is from Ohio and most of her family still lives there and in the Northeast. We have done many road trips in that direction at least two annually. Additionally, in the last few years we have driven to the Grand Nationals in Cherry Hill NJ, Boston and Lake George NY. This year we will again be driving east to the Grand National in the DC area. So where am I going with this? (pun intended) Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and Virginia all have toll roads. If you don t have one I suggest getting an Illinois I-Pass transponder. For a $10 refundable deposit and $30 or more bucks into your prepaid account you will eliminate frustration. You won t have to have change and sit in line while the driver ahead of you fumbles around to find his money. The I-Pass works all the way to the east coast. The Illinois Tollway has the coolest system, just stay in your lane. The transponder and the overhead structure communicate and your toll is paid. The toll cost is half of what it would cost going thru a booth. We take the Tollway around Chicago to avoid the jam up downtown. It s a few more miles but flows well now that it is four lanes in each direction. Starting with the Chicago Skyway and the Indiana toll road you will have to stop in special lanes. The gate will go up almost immediately. The I-Pass is compatible with the NY EZ Pass system as you travel further east. 7 Badger Region CLC Minutes January 28, 2017 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Director Ron Wichinski during the Annual Badger Region Holiday Banquet. This year it was held at the Seven Seas Restaurant in Hartland Wisconsin. There were 42 people attending the Banquet this year and participated in a delicious meal and great conversations. It is always great to see old friends and catch up on current events. The first order of business was for the election of officers. We currently did not have a Secretary so we wanted to see if there were nominations or volunteers from the floor. Bill Klemp volunteered to take on the Secretary position. Once that positon was filled the slate of Officers were presented and voted upon. Bill Klemp moved the slate be accepted, Carrie Riviere seconded the motion. Motion carried. The Officers for the upcoming year are: Director Ron Wichinski Assistant Director Thomas Sanders Secretary Bill Klemp Treasurer Dan Cress Membership Rob Martin Activities Director Larry Hansen Newsletter Editor Dan Cress Website Contact Jake Jakus CLC Board Rep. Dave Meisenheimer Ron then reviewed the License To Cruise event in September at Appleton. There was some discussion about what would be expected from the club and how the event would unfold for the day. It was decided we would not have enough members to step up and be able to provide autos for the day long event. It was also noted the annual National CLC event at the Gilmore Museum is the same weekend and could effect the attendance. With further discussion it was decided by a show of hands we would not participate in the event as a Marquee Automobile. Ron will let the Organizers know of our decision. Ron announced we will be meeting in a different place for our Saturday meetings. Starting with the February 18th meeting we will be meeting at Waukesha State Bank, W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wisconsin. This location is only 3.5 miles further west of Crest Cadillac. This will provide a meeting place on the main level so members who are currently having difficulty with stairs will be able to join us for meetings. We hope this will invite more members to attend meetings and will make it easier for others to come and be our guests. There will be a flyer in the newsletter. There is a judging seminar in the Chicago area on February 25th. If you are going to help at the Grand National or other CLC judging events, you are urged to attend one of the meetings about the new judging criteria. Rob Martin was wanting to know if anyone else is going and is interested in carpooling to the seminar. If you are interested please contact Rob prior to the 25th. The meeting was opened up for further concerns or announcements. There were none so the meeting was adjourned at 7:41 pm. Submitted by Dan Cress Visit the Club s website: THE ENLIGHTENER PAGE 7
