MEETING MINUTES - October 21, 2015 INTRODUCTIONS Meeting started at 7:35 PM President Tast called the meeting to order. He asked that everyone sign in on the sign-in sheet. He also asked that everyone also check the membership roster to verify their contact information. Alan asked that everyone present introduce themselves to the group in attendance. GUESTS ADDRESSING THE COUNCIL The Omaha World Herald/Suburban Newspaper representatives were in attendance to speak about the upcoming 2016 Car Council Directory. They are the company that produces the Car Council Book. Paul Swanson reported that there will be an increase to 12,000 copies of our book printed this year. This is an increase of 2,000 more copies than were printed last year. There will also be 8 additional sturdier pages in the middle of the book to reinforce it and hopefully help in holding it together. There were complaints last year that the book came apart at the staples in the center of the book. Hopefully the 8 additional sturdier pages will alleviate this problem. For the advertisers, they 2
3 will mail one book to every advertiser after the swap meet is over. You can also pick up one at the swap meet. Or, if you prefer, you can also purchase additional books. There are currently 268 unique listings in each book. The publisher spends a lot of time ensuring that the listings are accurate. They contact every listing by or telephone call to ask if they need changes before production of the book.. If you get an or phone call, PLEASE respond to their call in a timely fashion. They then double check that information with what is listed. They try their best to not have any errors. But, every once in a while an error occurs. Proofs are sent out to all of the advertisers. Prices for next year s book are on their website. January 6 th,2016 is the cut-off date for your listing and advertising space. Of the 12,000 books that will be printed, 10,000 will actually be available at the swap meet. NRCA Drive It Award Ken Lamb of Omaha presented the Nebraska Rod and Custom Association s (NRCA) Drive It Award to Roy Murabito. Ken is an area representative for the NRCA. This award is given to an individual that actively supports the classic car hobby, who drives their classic cars on a regular basis and is active in the classic car community. Congratulations Roy!!! (Our Vice President) Ken Lamb (left) presenting the NRCA s Drive It Award to Roy Murabito. 3
4 APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jay Johnson made a motion to approve the minutes as printed in last month s newsletter. Motion was seconded by Roy Murabito. Motion carried. TREASURER S REPORT In the absence of Treasurer Boyd Ready, Jim Snyder read the treasurer s report. Motion to approve the treasurer s report by Gene Gau. Seconded by Kerry Fox. Motion carried. One bill was submitted by Cindy Wimmer in the amount of $52.03 for the production and mailing of the September newsletter. Chuck Garber made a motion to approve this bill. Motion seconded by Larry Robb. Motion carried. DUES FOR 2016 If your club has not paid your dues to the Car Council for 2016, please send in your club s payment before the 1 st of the year. If your club s dues are not paid, you will not be allowed to work the swap meet and share in the profits. OLD BUSINESS Kerry Fox reported that we received a $3, refund check from Farm Bureau Insurance Company for overages paid this year as a result of an audit. Boyd Ready also received a check or $ as a result of that same audit. Farm Bureau asked Allied Insurance to take over insuring us next year. That quote came back at $2,700 per year, the same as one other insurance company that we had checked into. Ron Gillis of our insurance committee said that they have checked on event coverage for the swap meet. They were able to get a quote of $1, for coverage from Elite Insurance Inc. As for the coverage for the council meetings in Omaha at the Shriners Center, we have been told that we don t need insurance for having our meetings at the Shriners facility. The insurance for the swap meet also covers the usage of the vehicles that we use to get around at the swap meet (the mules). There was a motion to authorize a minimum premium installment to Elite Insurance Inc. to start our insurance in Ron Gillis made the motion to approve with Frank Wimmer seconding the motion. Motion carried. (Our individual car clubs do NOT need to list the ENWICC on their individual policies as stated in the September 2015 newsletter). 4
5 SWAP MEET Kerry Fox and Frank Wimmer developed a new job list for the swap meet jobs in Contact either one of them to sign up. They are going to have the traffic control crews moved to being parking collection crews. They have set various time frames for the crews to work. They have jobs openings for those car clubs that currently are not working and thus, not getting paid. If your club would like to work the swap meet and make some money for your club, contact Kerry or Frank. They are looking into obtaining booths for the collection crews to get them out of the elements especially overnight. There will be more discussion on this subject in the coming months. Parking fee will be $3.00 per vehicle. FALL FOLLIAGE TOUR There was a motion by those in attendance to make a donation to the Slo Rollers Car Club for the Fall Folliage Tour this year in the amount of $ Kerry Fox seconded the motion. Motion carried. PAST EVENTS Plattsmouth Car Show. 536 registered plus another 100 cars not registered. No empty spots to be had. Cruising Main. In the book 1 st Friday in October. 9 HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS GOLDEN CORRAL MEETING POLICY FOR USE OF ROOM REMINDER Prior to the November 2012 meeting, the manager of the Golden Corral brought to the attention of Vice President Roy Murabito that his staff have reported instances of meeting attendees not paying for food taken from the buffet lines. We are allowed to use the meeting room for free provided that meeting attendees purchase meals. If there are future instances of people not paying for meals or other items consumed (coffee, pop, etc.), we run the risk of losing our present Lincoln meeting location. Please do not abuse or jeopardize our current arrangement with Golden Corral. COUNCIL BY-LAWS CURRENT EDITION AVAILABILITY A copy of the most-current revision of the By-Laws, which was made in 2004 and does include the current dues policy, is available. Those wishing a copy of this are asked to contact the Secretary to obtain one. LINCOLN MEETING ROOM REMINDERS The meeting room at the Golden Corral in Lincoln is to be configured to place the Council s officers against the west wall in an effort to improve communication during the meeting. Please help us by holding tables on the west center side of the room open for officers. Thank you for your cooperation. PLEASE STAND AND SPEAK UP!! Due to the open layout and large size of the Crescent meeting room in Omaha, as well as the configuration of the meeting room in Lincoln, it is difficult for many attendees to hear conversations and discussion during the meeting. PLEASE stand and speak up for the benefit of attendees and the Secretary so that accurate notes can be obtained. It would also be appreciated if non-related conversations be kept at a minimum during the business portion of the meeting as a courtesy to attendees. AGENDA ORDER NO EVENT DISCUSSION BEFORE IT S TIME, PLEASE Representatives are reminded that meetings of the Council follow an established agenda as follows (* - When Required): 1. Opening/Introductions - President 2.* Guests Addressing/Presenting to the Council* 3. Approval of Minutes of Last Meeting 4. Treasurer s Report - Treasurer 5. Old Business (Items carried over from previous meetings) 6. New Business (Items new to the agenda not previously discussed, excluding events discussion/promotion) 7. Past Events (Discussion of recently-held events) 8. Upcoming Events (Promotion/Discussion of upcoming events) 9.* New Clubs wishing to join the Council* 10. Adjournment - President NEW AGENDA ITEMS: If you have an item that should be included in the Agenda for the next meeting, please notify the Secretary prior to the beginning of the meeting by calling the President or ing president@enwicc.com to arrange for its addition. EVENTS DISCUSSION: Discussion of past and upcoming events is to be held following close of New Business as the last items before adjournment. Please help meetings proceed in a more-orderly fashion by withholding discussion of events until that portion of the agenda is opened by the President or presiding officer. 9
