3 The Jaguar Club of New Mexico completed its first ever Concours d Elegance in Albuquerque a couple weeks ago and there is much more detail about it with lots of pictures in this issue of Cat Tales. But let me say that it was an unabashed success and a great party! There were lots of beautiful cars, and I must say with great pride that RMJC members fared very well in the judging against some stiff competition from six different states. The winners and their scores are detailed by Steve Kennedy on Page 13. Overall there were 42 cars in the field, some of which were one of a kind. Our club was represented by 14 members with seven cars entered in everything from display to champion, including Linda and I, the Kennedys, the Georges, Ray Horrall and Leni Lambert, the Oakleys, the Fegleys, and the Ramirez s. As we were reminded by several of the New Mexico club members, the driving distance was 444 miles down I-25, so to make the drive (and in Mike and Deb Ramirez s case trailer) that distance says something about the supportive nature of our club members. And to the three from Jaguar Club of Southern Colorado our hats are off to you as well. And you can see from Steve s write-up they did very well too in the competition! Just a quick note about the People s Choice award at the Route 66 Concours, it was the 1962 yellow (primrose) MK2 saloon owned by Robert and Lynn Brown of the Jaguar Club of Southern Arizona. This immaculate car won the same award at our own Concours two years ago. I want to congratulate New Mexico President Gloria Chavez and Treasurer and Concours Chair Lyle Ferrell, and all the New Mexico members, for putting on a fun and very well organized and punctual concours. Although it was their first, it seemed as if they have been doing this for many years. And the bonus was a Saturday afternoon tour that traced some parts of the original Route 66, a fond piece of America s motoring history! Ray Horrall Photo Next up is the 33rd annual English Motoring Conclave at Oak Park in Arvada the weekend of September The Ride the Rockies Tour is on the 17th and the car show is the 18th. Don t forget to register, let s have a great RMJC turnout for this event. Advance registration received before September 10 is $20 for the first car entered, $10 more for a second, and any additional cars are free. The registration covers both days. Day of registration is $25 for the first car and $15 for any additional car. Keep those Cats active! Cat Tales Sept, 2016 Volume 49 Issue 9 Page 3 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

7 The August Board Meeting was called to order by President Dwight Eisnach at 7:40 at the home of the Eisnachs. In attendance: Bob Grossman, Gary George, Deanie Kennedy, Teresa Ross, Bill Beeson, Gordon Kenney, Vince Lane, Jackie Redrupps, and Steve Kennedy. Deanie said that the concours did make a little bit of money, including some money from Jaguar Cars. Overall, we are ahead of budget and our other events have made a bit of money too. The Christmas Party will be held on December 10, Dwight says he will need to give a $500 deposit to Hyatt Place at Cherry Creek soon. The cost is $55 per person. The total cost for the hotel dinner is $2768 for 60 people. The Registration fee is $55 pp, cash bar, December 10, 2016, the Hyatt Place at Cherry Creek, the old Lowes (Darth Vader) hotel. We also talked about purchasing our own microphone rather than renting one for concours, Christmas Party and other events. There was lots of discussion on how to increase membership and get younger members to join the club. Having someone maintain a Facebook page was one suggestion. There just do not seem to be that many younger people interested in joining any clubs of any kind. Teresa said she had put a Facebook page together for her club in Dallas and was willing to do it for RMJC. Thank you Teresa. Vince Lane talked about holding the 2017 concours in the Roxborough subdivision where they live. There are several buildings and parking areas available. Food would have to be either brought in by the attendees or catered in, but that is what we do at the Conclave and the Ability Connections of Colorado (CP) show. Gary also talked about holding the concours at the Spirit of Flight Center Museum in Erie, CO as another possibility. The cost is $10 per person, but that would also include access to the museum. Whichever location is decided upon for the Sunday, June 25th 2017, concours, the board recommended using the other location for The deadline for getting photos to Teresa for the RMJC calendar has been moved up to October 15th. Please get your photos to Teresa at teresa.ross@me.com There will be Light Music by Modazz Band. They are friends of Brent McGibbons and Brent is paying for their services. Thank you Brent!! The Slalom just did not seem to have the interest this year as it has in past years. Maybe everyone is just busy. We needed at least 25 drivers and we only had 15 signed up. The Conclave will be held September 17th for the Drive and 18th for the show. RMJC will be handling Registration from 7 to 9. Please also bring a side dish for our traditional great lunch. Thank you to Dwight and Linda for hosting the August board meeting. Meeting Adjourned 9 pm Cat Tales Sept, 2016 Volume 49 Issue 9 Page 7 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

9 President Dwight Eisnach called the August meeting to order at 7:30 pm and welcomed new member John Davis, who just bought an F- Pace from Stevinson Jaguar. Dwight reminded everyone of the upcoming Route 66 Concours in Albuquerque, NM. The registration form is available on the RMJC web site. Their concours will be held in Old Town Albuquerque. The Conclave will be here very soon. If you have not already signed up, a registration form was in the July newsletter. The 50th RMJC badges have arrived. Deanie handed them out to those who had preordered them and sold several to other members. The Conclave Drive will be September 17th and the Show is on Sunday, the 18th. You should have received your registration form in the mail. If not, there is one in the July newsletter. We usually have Jaguars on the field. We do need volunteers to help with conclave registration 7 to 9 am on the 18th. Contact Deanie if you can help, dkennedy@ecentral.com, Please do bring a side dish. The club will get the traditional 6 foot sub sandwich. Bob G, Brian R, Vince, Dwight and Frank O. have volunteered so far. We still need four more to help out at the table. The Bid for the Kids auction will be Friday night, October 7th, 6:30 to 9 pm at the Balistreri Vineyards, 1946 E 66th Ave., Denver. You will have a chance to tour the barrel room and learn more about wine making. Enjoy delicious food made with local ingredients and craft beer from the Dry Dock Brewing. Last year they raised $15-20k for children's hospital. Tickets are $90 per person or $80 per person for a table of 8. Register soon by going to denverroundtable.ejoinme.org/bids4kids as they expect a sell out. They can only seat 150 people max. Calendar, Teresa need photos by October 9 th. The deadline was November but it got moved up so there will be plenty of time to sort through all of the photos. Teresa Ross, teresa.ross@me.com Membership 126, holds pretty steady. The Christmas Party will be held at the Hyatt Place in Cherry Creek, formerly Los Georgios, Saturday, December 10th. There will be catered food. Thanks to Brent, we will have live music. The Gift Exchange will be One Open and One Steal in hopes of moving the evening along faster. For the 2017 Concours, Vince is checking on the details for the area adjacent to the club house in Roxborough. The tentative date is the weekend after Father's Day. Gary is also checking on the Spirit of Flight Museum in Longmont. Depending on the results of both of their details, the board will make a choice between the two. Either way, the concours will be a one day event. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. Cat Tales Sept, 2016 Volume 49 Issue 9 Page 9 rockymountainjaguarclub.org

12 Political Committee: Leo Boyle reminded everyone that we will be primarily concerned with individuals who are likely to be on the transportation committees of the Colorado Legislative House and Senate in He reviewed those legislators he has worked with in the past, some of whom are term-limited and will not be returning. He noted that with term limits in place, lobbyists are often called on to provide background on bills under consideration. The political committee will meet with Leo to discuss where donations will be most effective in promoting collector car interests. Issues of concern to hobbyists include single license plate authorization, potential limits on sales of cars by individuals, air quality and emission tests, and verification of insurance coverage by other motorists. Cat Tales Sept, 2016 Volume 49 Issue 9 Page th Anniversary of RMJC Car Badge RMJC Members. We are offering a very nice 50 th Anniversary RMJC Car Badge, that will be brass with green mountains, and numbered from 1 to 50. The cost is $35 each. The new badge will have two cast fasteners on the back, be supplied with the mounting hardware and will have the Growler in the center. It will be three inches in diameter, as was the original. Please contact Steve to order yours right away. Anticipated delivery is around the end of July.

18 It s Time for YOUR RMJC 2017 Calendar Fellow RMJC members, please join in the fun and participate in making a calendar to showcase our beautiful cars as well as your favorite places around Colorado. Just submit a picture showcasing your Jaguar in your favorite setting perhaps under a canopy of Aspen trees in the autumn, a red rock formation, a field of spring flowers in bloom, or maybe a snow capped mountain in the background. The photos will be compiled into a calendar at least 8 x 10 in size, so please be sure to use the best quality setting on your camera so it can be enlarged. Cost will be determined at the time of printing, but at this time we expect the price to be under $20.00 each. It will also be dependent upon if we do a 12, 18, or 24 month calendar. We would like to have the completed calendar ready in time for the RMJC Christmas party and of course it will make a wonderful gift for friends and family who share in the enthusiasm for the mark. Please indicate your interest to me, Teresa, at Teresa.Ross@me.com and submit your photo to me via by October 15th, That gives us a little time before the holidays to get the calendar laid out and sent to the printers so we get it back in time to distribute before Christmas. Clock Photos In addition to the calendar that Teresa is doing, Steve is doing Clocks with the photo you supply for $25. For the clock photo, you need to hold the camera in what is called Portrait format, long ways top to bottom. You also need to stand back further than you usually do. By the time the photo is cropped and made circular for the clock, the high background goes away and the picture clock looks just fine Cat Tales Sept, 2016 Volume 49 Issue 9 Page 18
