1 Proposed Minutes of RROC Rebel Region ABM 11/12/05 Members of Board in Attendance: R. Sidi, Chairman J. Foreman, Secretary H. Rowe, Treasurer E. Enney, Activities M. Mayer, Membership J. Trepel, Publications The meeting was held at Up Your Alley Restaurant, Aiken, SC The Chairman, Bob Sidi, called the meeting to order at 10:20 am; seconded by Joel Foreman, Secretary 1. New members for 2005 in attendance introduced themselves and briefly described their automobiles. 2. Secretary Joel Foreman introduced the minutes of 2004, including all Directors reports: Treasurer, Activities, Membership, Publications, Chief Judge and State Directors reports. Martin Mayer moved to accept the minutes/related reports; and, Bob Sidi seconded. All approved. 3. Treasurer Henry Rowe submitted the Treasurer report. He noted a profit of $2,500, which is minus the $1,000 deposit for Graylyn meet next year. It was noted that next year membership dues should cover all publications expense because National will reimburse the region for new members joining free for the first year. After discussion of the financial reports, Joel Foreman moved to acceptthe Treasurer s Report and Bob Sidi seconded. All approved. Elizabeth Enney submitted the following proposal to the Board due to the National treasurer having discretion over the Region s treasury. The proposal is as follows: In order to preserve and protect the financial integrity of the Rebel Region of the RROC, the Board of Directors hereby establishes an operating reserve of $ This proposal will be undertaken by the Board for discussion as New Business. 4. Activities Director

2 Elizabeth Enney reported on activities. Elizabeth reported on an Alabama get together at Martin Mayer s home in April, and the one in Georgia on Labor Day weekend. Bob Mace will organize one in South Carolina in the near future. The tech session for a brake seminar will be rescheduled in spring, The next judging meet is in Winston Salem, NC at Graylyn on the Wake Forest University campus. Doug and Mary White are hosting. Hotel reservations for the Memorial Day weekend can be made now. On March 10, there will be a meet on Jekyll Island at the beautiful Millionaires Club Hotel. A charter bus will be available for travel to the Amelia Island Concour de Elegance. The Activities Director s report was motioned as accepted by Martin Mayer, seconded by Bob Sidi and approved without discussion. 5. Membership Director Martin Mayer presented his membership report and noted that there were 56 new members this year. Next year new members get introduction letters and Regional directories. There was no subsidy from National for these new members, although they received free membership in the region. National decided to stop providing the stipend for new members for 2005, but has reinstituted the subsidy beginning in The $15.00 reimbursement for each new member should cover the cost of postage/mailings for that new member. Martin proposed that next year we will use this $15.00 stipend also to purchase name tags for the new members. Last year we had an 85% retention rate for new members. The dues for National, which are $35.00, include spouse and children. New members joining for 2006 will get a free name tag, and the spouse will have the option to purchase one. If anyone knows of a cheaper source for name tags, let Martin Mayer know of the vendor/provider. A motion to approve the Membership Director s report was made by Jeff Trepel and seconded by Elizabeth Enney. The motion was approved without discussion. 6. Publications Director

3 Jeff Trepel noted that the Boot and Bonnet will remain on a quarterly schedule. Three issues have been published this year and a fourth will come out in December. He proposed that we continue to have 4 issues in 2006, which would continue to make the publication more competitive for the McFarlane Award. Jeff acknowledged the efforts of the Region Webmaster, Scott Keith. The web site is as follows: We need technical article contributions, and the article does not have to be original. Ralph Fossett sent in the correct answer to the Mystery Car and will receive a sketch of the Phantom II drop head. The next Region directory will be compiled in The bylaws say it should be produced annually, but traditionally we have updated this every other year. Advertising in 2004 made the directory self-financing. It will probably be added to the web site. Everyone needs to make sure that their information is updated at Headquarters because that is where the information originates, especially note or area code changes. A proposal was made to again send out the new directory with the Boot and Bonnet. Advertising in the directory is very reasonable so get your requests in as soon as possible. The membership cut off date for National is March, so we will do the directory after that. Martin Mayer made a motion to accept the publications report, and it was seconded by Elizabeth Enney. The motion was approved without discussion. 7. State Directors According to Bob Mace, there were 30 in attendance at their September function, with 4 new couples. Robert Gunn reported that Georgia members have been invited to the new Bentley Dealership in Alpharetta, GA on a Saturday afternoon in the first quarter of 2006 for a celebration by the Roswell Founders Club. 8. Webmaster Scott Keith, webmaster was present to report that our website has a link from National, with a list of our officers and pictures. The previous cost for hosting the website was $87.45 per year, and National has offered to host the site for free. We will be looking into changing the host to National.

4 There is a forum but only 3 messages are on it. To access the members page, you have to know the User ID and Password [which are case-sensitive], which have been printed in some issues of Boot and Bonnet. The information to access this page: User ID: RollsRoyce Password: henry We are considering posting the directory on the website, so give consideration to your advertisements and also any items for sale. 9. Librarian There is no librarian report, but if you have any old copies of Boot and Bonnet, check with Ralph Fosset before getting rid of, as he may have a need for them. 10. Historian Report/Technical Advisors Report No new information. 11. Old Business Sam Rawlins is a candidate for the National RROC. Sam was given an opportunity to speak briefly about his candidacy. Sam recommended that you vote for qualified people. There are three contested positions on the National ballot: the race for President and, the races for the VP Regions and VP Communications. The challenging candidate for Regions is Bob Fahning from New York. Michael Kan, from Texas, is the challenging candidate for Communications. Sam thanked everyone in the club for their support, votes and confidence. Be sure to mail your ballot as soon as possible, as the votes will be counted on December 16 th. 12. New Business Joel Foreman reviewed the election results. 370 ballots were mailed, and 115 were received. All but 4 ballots were cast for the existing officers (4 were for Sam for President). The election results will be forwarded to National and the directors will officially be installed by National. Bill Vatter distributed brochures for the National Spring Tour he is hosting in Blue Ridge [NC, TN, GA] in Because this is a National event, it is an opportunity to show the strength of our region. We will need assistance at the welcome reception on April 23 rd in Asheville, NC in the form

5 of purchasing refreshments, taking them to the table, restocking and then clean up. We would like members to be in the Hotel lobby to welcome the guests. The Holiday Inn Express in Asheville at the Biltmore Square Mall is the start. [Details of the tour are available from Bill.] The Tour can accommodate up to 40 cars, any and all models of Rolls Royce and Bentley. Twenty have already registered. The region did a similar tour in the past and everyone had a lot of fun. Primary registration is $100 per car and $20 per passenger. The hotel rooms average $75.00 per night. A new technical society, the early post war society, has been formed. The chairman is Harold Krimko (NY) and Bill Vatter is secretary. The proposed Georgia State meet at the Gwinnett Arts Center is a fundraising event. The price of $50 per person to attend will be waived if you bring in your car for display. Rolls Royce has been invited. Bill Vatter is the point person for registering. The Boot & Bonnet will publish the date, either the third or fourth Friday in September, Tennessee is not represented on the Board, and Ross Marshall volunteered to be the State Director. Bob Sidi appointed Ross as Tennessee State Director. It was noted that there are no National membership cards issued last year, and they will not be issued this year either. Elizabeth Enney made the motion to adopt the proposal for a $30,000 Reserve as introduced under the Treasurer s Report. The motion was seconded by Joel Foreman. The Board voted to approve the motion with no dissent. The motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Jeff Trepel, seconded by Elizabeth Enney, and the meeting was adjourned at 11:40 a.m.
