3 NATIONAL र ष ट Madhya Pradesh awarded for reducing maternal mortality under Prime Minister's Safe Motherhood Campaign. The Prime Minister s Safe Motherhood Campaign has been launched to ensure quality care of over 3 crore pregnant women of the country before delivery. Madhya Pradesh has registered an unprecedented 48-digit decline in maternal deaths as per the report of the Registrar General of India from 2014 to 2016.

7 NATIONAL र ष ट The Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Mines, Narendra Singh Tomar inaugurated the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) in all sub-registrar offices in Andaman & Nicobar Islands from New Delhi through a Video- Conferencing. This generic customisable software will enable anywhere access to data and information to both the common man and the enforcement and regulatory agencies. All 5 sub-registrar offices in the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands have been computerised and the NGDRS has been adopted in all 5 offices.

8 NATIONAL र ष ट Similarly, all 173 sub-registrar offices of Punjab have been computerised and the NGDRS has been adopted in all 173 offices. The NGDRS system has been piloted in 3 States - Punjab, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra.

14 NATIONAL र ष ट India has pledged USD 5 million in assistance to the UN agency working for the welfare of Palestinian refugees to help bolster its "severe funding crisis" following US' cut in its annual aid to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). A total of 20 countries, including India, announced contributions to the 2018 budget of the UNRWA for Palestine Refugees in the Near East during a meeting. While India pledged USD 5 million, Sweden will contribute USD 250 million over four years, the UK USD 51 million and the UAE USD 50 million among other donors.

15 ABOUT UNRWA: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from the UN Member States. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli conflict, UNRWA was established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of 8 December 1949 to carry out direct relief and works programmes for Palestine refugees. The Agency began operations on 1 May 1950.

17 NATIONAL र ष ट Union Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu launched a mobile application called 'ReUnite' which helps to track and trace missing and abandoned children in India. The app is multiuser where parents and citizens can upload pictures of children, and provide detailed description like name, birthmark, address, report to the police station, search and identify missing kids. The app is available for both Android and ios.

19 INTERNATIONAL अ तरर ष ट The US State Department categorised North Korea as one of the worst human trafficking nations for the 16th straight year, citing the use of forced labour. According to the annual 2018 Trafficking in Persons Report, North Korea has been included in the Tier 3 category, which is the lowest ranking, along with China, Russia and Iran.

20 REASONS FOR CATEGORISATION OF NORTH KOREA North Korea used state-sponsored forced labour to fund government functions as well as other illicit activities. The North Korean government continued to use forced labour in prison camps and labour training centres and even encouraged forced labours of students and exported forced labour to foreign organisations. The '2018 Trafficking in Persons Report' placed India in Tier 2 category for making significant effort to comply with the US standards. However, India does not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking.

24 RANKING श र India was ranked 35th among 100 countries (countries) in recently released Global Real Estate Transparency Index (GRETI). The index was released by realty consultant JLL. India was ranked 36th in the index during the last bi-annual survey conducted in 2016 and 40th in Its real estate market is currently placed in the semi-transparent zone.uk is at the top position followed by Australia and the US. France, Canada, Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany, Ireland and Sweden are in top 10 in the list of 100 countries.

25 INDIA RELATED FACTS: In this edition of index, India has moved up one place due to improvement in market fundamentals, policy reforms, and liberalisation of FDI. Besides, digitisation of property records and industry status accorded to affordable housing also has helped India to improve its rankings. India has emerged as one of the top ten countries to register maximum improvement in transparency in real estate over the last two years.

27 DEFENCE र The navies of India and Indonesia participated in Passage Exercise (PASSEX). Indian Naval ships INS Shakti and INS Kamorta under the command of Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, undertook Passage Exercise with Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Madidihang (855) on leaving the Port of Makassar, Indonesia. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Indonesia, the two countries agreed to enhance their maritime cooperation.

30 AGREEMENT समझ त On the second day of his visit to Israel, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani met Israel's Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Uri Ariel and announced a joint working group (JWG) between Gujarat and Israel in the fields of agriculture, horticulture and allied sectors. The objective of the meeting was strengthening the Indo-Israeli agricultural cooperation and extension of the Indo-Israel Agriculture Plan (IIAP) and also to explore the opportunities of using the hi-tech protective cultivation and precision farming methods of Israel.

33 APPOINTMENT न य क तय SBI managing director B Sriram has resigned from the country s largest lender after his appointment as chief executive of IDBI Bank. The development assumes significance amid reports that insurance behemoth LIC is mulling acquiring a majority stake in the debt-ridden state-owned bank. The government last week appointed Sriram as managing director and CEO of IDBI Bank for a temporary period of three months. Sriram took charge of IDBI Bank on June 22 following M K Jain demitting office to take over as Deputy Governor of RBI.
