1 THE DISTRICT TIMES Volume 16, Issue I March 2016 Library Embraces Community Through collaboration with area nonprofits and governmental agencies, the library and its partners are able to offer a host of opportunities that would otherwise not be available. New Citizens In December 2015, the library worked with officials from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Detroit to host two separate citizenship ceremonies in which120 Michigan residents from over 60 countries became United States citizens. These events proved so popular that we are working on more events like this in ArtWalk This annual celebration of art and artists takes place throughout downtown Grand Haven and Centertown. The library is proud to host the work of young artists as the site for the Youth Art Competition. Walk the Beat/Repeat the Beat Recycle your gently used, no longer needed musical instruments in a program called Repeat the Beat during the entire month of April.
