In the kids section of the enewsletter, you'll see all sorts of activities planned. Adults who register for summer reading will receive a complimentary tote bag and can participate in opportunities throughout the summer to win weekly raffles as well as the Summer BINGO contest. We will decorate mason jars and then plant basil seeds. Place the jar in a sunny window and soon you will be picking basil leaves for cooking, making herb butter (recipe will be provided), and just enjoying the delicious smell of basil in your home! Essential Oils Make & Take: Summer Survival Monday, July 10 Whether you are spending leisure time gardening, tending to kids with boo boos, traveling on vacation, enjoying the beach, or hiking trails, you will find a natural alternative perfect for you in this class. Every guest will make and take home one of the summertime survival recipes. After Hours Music: Bash the Trash! Friday, July 14 This is more performance than lecture, as this program combines music, visuals, and narration for a unique experience. The Secret Life of Musical Instruments explores the families of instruments and Spasm Bands to Spike Jones examines the history of homemade instruments in American pop culture. 4 Brighten up your garden and make it easy to navigate. Come to the library and learn how to make these beautiful garden markers from simple stones. All supplies will be provided. Just bring your creativity! Introduction to Art Journals Thursday, July 20 Come learn about a variety of easy art journaling techniques and materials as you create your own one-of-a-kind art journal. This is a great way to rediscover your creativity, reduce stress, resolve boredom, save cherished memories, and have a great deal of fun. We'll talk about family journals, personal journals, shared journals, spiritual journals, and more. Homemade Granola & Yogurt Parfaits Monday, July 24 Do you enjoy healthy eating and baking your own snacks? In this demonstration cooking class, we will be baking our own nutritious granola from scratch! After that, we will make parfaits using yogurt, the fresh granola, and a variety of mix-ins! Health and Exercise for Adults Chair Yoga Thursday, July 1:30 pm Are you interested in learning yoga, but have difficulty getting down on the floor? Now you too can enjoy all the benefits of yoga without having to get on a mat. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, mediation and relaxation while seated in a chair. The class will be taught by Danielle Meany, RYT. All levels welcome. No experience or equipment is necessary. Yoga Basics Thursday, July 11:00 am This class is great for the beginner or experienced student

5 as we give variations for all levels. Focusing on movement integrating breath, awareness, and alignment, you will build strength, focus, flexibility, and balance for both mind and body. The class will be taught by Tula Yoga instructor, Jennifer Cavalieri. Please bring your own yoga mat or large towel. Must be at least 18 years old to participate. (At the time of writing, this event was filling up. Check for availability. Also routinely check the library's web site for upcoming months.) MAPL Kids Are the Best!! On-going and Special Programs for Kids, Tweens, and Teens! This July, MAPL offers a variety of programs for children from six months on up, and all the way through teens. New Arrivals for July 2017 ONE-ON-ONE COMPUTER SESSIONS MAPL offers free one-on-one computer sessions with knowledgeable computer techs. Each session will be an hour long and cover a range of topics such as online forms, s, the Internet, resumes, and any other general computer questions you may have. Call the information desk for available dates to sign up for a one-hour session. Check with the library for available dates and times.

11 Database of the Month: zinio MAPL offers you access to many, many databases through its website. This month's featured database is zinio, the world's largest newstand. It allows you to access full-color, interactive, digital magazines for your enjoyment. Browse from the collection of popular titles with no holds, no checkout periods, and no limit to the number of magazines you can download. In addition, rbdigital is a new app that's being introduced. It combines aspects of zinio with last month's data base, OneClickDigital. Watch for upcoming details! To access zinio, go to the library's main website (see link below), then pull down the "Library Information" menu, click on Electronic Resources. Click on the link for "Magazines and Journals." From there, click on "zinio" and follow the simple directions! Books for Sale!!! Did you miss the June sale to purchase books? You can still buy books at a great price! The small hallway between the circulation desk and the reference room has shelves full of books, audiobooks, and DVDs available for your purchase. For the last few months, we've been telling you about the new bench and paving stones that were going to be installed by our entrance. They're now in place -- and the bench is ready for your enjoyment. Yet another reason to stop by the library this summer and take advantage of all the many resources we offer!
