5 Page 5 presentation for which we are grateful. After a brief break, MLA President DJ Dabenigno gaveled the meeting to order. MLA Secretary Fred Darcy read the Executive Board Meeting Minutes of September 2, 2014 into the record. MLA Treasurer Kenny Beltram reported that the finances of the MLA are in good shape. President Dabenigno reviewed the earlier read minutes / agenda with the membership for feedback on the issues covered. A lengthy discussion was held with the membership and officers present regarding the proposed hiring of O Neil and Associates of Boston to assist MLA in launching a campaign to gain the assistance of political entities within the state to assist us in having our voices heard regarding legislation that may have a bearing on our members and industry such as licensing. Also, O Neil and Associates would embark on a public relations campaign on behalf of the MLA. Concerns regarding the overall cost of the above as well as long and short term goals and results were discussed by many present at the meeting. President Dabenigno broke down the proposed expenditure as $1500. Per week, $ per month and a total of $ for 6 months. He stated that he will seek alternative funding assistance from others within the industry to help try to defray the overall cost of this proposal as all parties in the industry could benefit from the campaign. Lastly, Mario Lituri brought up an excellent point that more involvement by MLA membership volunteering to help the association in its many endeavors would help to keep this association strong.. A raffle was held prior to the meeting being adjourned. Winning members received donated items from Ralph Pearlman as well as paid class at the upcoming Yankee Security Convention and gift certificate from Commonwealth Lock. Meeting was adjourned at 10:06 PM Respectfully submitted Fred T. Darcy Jr. RL Secretary, Massachusetts Locksmiths Association 0 TOLL FREE: LOCAL: FAX: Ledyard St. Hartford, Ct

The Assa Abloy Mobile Showroom was also on location and members were allowed to tour same and review with representatives the products offered. Training classes were also held for members who wanted to partake in same. President Dabenigno and Vice President Kippenberger handed out the new MLA stickers in which each member received one sticker and was given the opportunity to purchase more either at the event or via the new MLA Website. Consensus of Executive Board Members present at the E Board meeting was that Josephs catering did a very good job and that there was plenty of food. The Executive Board also felt that Josephs should cater the upcoming MLA Christmas Party. Also under Christmas Party, President Dabenigno proposed having members donate a toy for Toys For Tots and having a member of the United States Marine Corps and a member of the Massachusetts State Police present to accept these toys for children in need. Executive Board members also approved this. Under Website president Dabenigno reports that all is going well. A good deal of positive feedback has been received from the membership. There have been over 360 visitors to the website per month. Some members of the general public have also contacted President Dabenigno via the website as they had been previously scammed by individuals who claimed to be locksmiths. Under Old Business, President Dabenigno and the Executive Board discussed utilizing the services of O Neil and Associates which is a public relations firm. FYI Found this on the mass Gov. website: taxpayer-help-and-resources/taxguides/salesuse-tax-guide.html#home Exempt items Commercial gun safes and trigger lock devices

7 Continued from page 6 Page 7 O Neil and Associates services as proposed would be used to promote the MLA, it s membership and professionalism within the locksmith and security industry. O Neil and Associates has proposed a 6 month period in which they would assist the MLA with a media campaign as well as contacting political entities to assist MLA in moving ahead in putting forward our member s interests and concerns in the industry. O Neil and Associates would require a 6 month contract at a cost of $ President Dabenigno also presented other proposals from other companies at the meeting; however they were quite a bit more expensive and would not offer the amount of services proposed by O Neil and Associates. Executive Board members held discussions as to the cost of the proposed contract, how long and how effective would the efforts of O Neil and Associates last in the mind of the general public, etc. John Casey described how the media had been contacted previously by MLA and that media and political attention to the matter fell to the wayside. Vice President Kippenberger explained how utilizing the services of O Neil and Associates would help advance the MLA position as they would be paid to assist us and had the experience in this type of dealing as opposed to approaching the media on our own.. Secretary Darcy proposed that the MLA Executive Board should look into asking industry manufacturers, etc. to help defray the costs of such an endeavor as they also have a stake in promoting these efforts. He felt that the overall proposal has merit and should not be discarded. Barbara Baker brought up concerns as to the effectiveness and cost of the proposed as did Treasurer Kenny Beltram. After Lengthy discussion E Board members decided to continue discussion at a later date. Under New Business, President Dabenigno reports that he will be representing MLA at the upcoming Yankee Convention. Any member willing to assist at the convention is asked to contact President Dabenigno. Also under New Business, President Dabenigno requests an appropriation of $ to purchase a dual side printer and cards in order to print MLA membership identification cards which change color after each year. Meeting was adjourned at 9:35 PM. Respectfully Submitted Fred T. Darcy Jr., RL, Secretary, MLA.
