3 Page 3 My fellow locksmiths, As 2014 starts to wind down we have made some great improvements to the Association. Without the help and approvals of both the Executive Board and the General Body, none of these would have been possible. This year we have started taking credit cards for dues and advertisement payments, launched an all new web-site, increased our membership, and have brought in new tech sessions to our regular meetings. We as a whole will continue to move the Association forward as we head into With the end of the year approaching the Association is moving forward with the plan to go completely digital with our newsletter. The newsletter is currently mailed to less then 50 members, and the rest of the association receives it via . The newsletter can also be viewed on-line on our web-site in the Members Only section. We will still be able to print and mail the newsletter to those who would like it mailed, but a small subscription fee would apply to cover the printing and mailing costs. Please reach out to me before the end of the year so there would be no lapse in receiving the newsletter. At this year s annual Christmas Party we will be holding a Toys for Tots drive. I am asking all members and guests attending to bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl, aged 6-12, valued at $20.00 to be donated to children in need this upcoming holiday season. You can also make a monetary donation towards Toys for Tots in lieu if bringing in a toy. This is not a requirement to attend, however I am working on getting members of the media to publicize this and the more we can donate the better it will look. I am currently working with both the Mass State Police and United States Marines to come to the Party to accept the toys. If you cannot attend, or know someone who would like to donate, please get in touch with me before the Party. At our last regular meeting a motion was brought forth and approved for the purchase of a professional ID Printer. Each year once dues are received, you will be issued a new and updated Member ID Card. They will bring an added level of professionalism towards the Association. The new cards will act much like the inspection sticker on your car with the color changing yearly to easily signify if the ID is valid or not. That information would be on the web-site so the public knows what they are looking for when they hire one of our members. With the purchase of this printer, the MLA will also be able to offer our members the opportunity to have ID Cards printed up for their companies. A minimal fee would be charged to cover the costs of printing the cards. In 2015 I will be looking to bring in new presenters to our technical sessions. As always, if there is something in particular you would like to see please let me know. In the next year we will be reaching out to some of the bigger names in the industry to offer a day long training. From what I have heard this used to be done back in the day and I would like to try doing them again. This would be possibly held at the elks or a near-by hotel. These would be more hands-on and interactive then our normal 45-minute tech sessions. Topics that could be covered would be automotive, safe servicing, access control, and more. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Party, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. My direct line is always and is with me 24 hours a day. If you would prefer , I can be reached at dj@dabbslock.com Yours respectfully, DJ Dabenigno President, Massachusetts Locksmiths Association
