1 Student Senate Minutes SUNY Delhi Delhi NY, November 29th, 2017 President Sashagay Watt called meeting to order at 5:15pm. 2 nd by RHA. Secretary Emily Gleason took attendance; 40 clubs and 3 Senator at Larges were in attendance, no clubs were late, Sports, Recreation and Leisure were absent, as well as WIC, and senator at large Hugh. Senator at large Greg was excused from the meeting with prior knowledge of the executive board. Secretary Emily Gleason made a motion to approve minutes from November 15 th, nd PGM 39 in favor,. 4 Abstained. The minutes have been passed. Guest Speaker Vicki Andruszkiewicz from SACC Student Athlete Advisor Committee They will be hosting an event in January 30 th, for the double header basketball game. A White out event where a ton of white tee shirts with SUNY Delhi athletics logos on them will be provided for people attending to receive. This is a way to get more fans in the stands. They would like to collaborate with student groups and organizations. Athletics would pay for the teeshirts, then the clubs/ orgs working with them could pay for something on the back. Having attendance at the games is very important. Putting other groups names on the back of the shirts, performing at the sport games during half times. Trying to get people at both games, men s and women. The committee can only afford 500 tee shirts with something on the front ($1800). The committee has raised the money in order to pay for these tee shirts for the White Out event. A 50/50 will be done during the games as well. The Student Senate Executive Board had a brief discussion and has decided to match the $1800 for the White Out Tee shirts so there are more free tee shirts at this event. Announcements Horticulture Poinsettia and Holiday Wreath Sale The Horticulture Club will be selling poinsettias, decorated holiday wreaths, and terrariums/dish gardens Friday December 1, from 10 am to noon and 2 pm until 5 p.m. in Farnsworth Hall Room 122. Wreaths will be sold for $18 and $20. Poinsettias are available in pot sizes: 4 $3.50 (red, white, pink) $7 each (burgundy, red, pink, marble),

2 $10 each (pink, marble and red) each (red and white) Houseplant dish gardens: $10 to $30. Pre-orders are highly recommended, as quantities are limited. Order via Birgitta Brophy, brophybb@delhi.edu, All proceeds will assist students to attend a field trip to Chanticleer and Longwood Gardens next spring. History Get Woke Series Dear White People the film Sunday, December 10 th in Centennial Hall in Sanford at 5:00pm Turf Both turf bowl teams placed in their competition NYSAVT Flower Sale They will be selling flowers during valentines day week. Please contact NW92@live.delhi.edu for anyquestions Secretary, Emily Gleason Officers Report Secretary Thanked the organizations whose presidents attended the presidents meeting. This meeting was very helpful and informative. The clubs and organizations who attended were able to discuss the issues other organizations are having. Thank you to RHA, Architecture, Equine, DCIC, Step it up, CMAA, MPI, IFSEA, KSE, BIG, BSU, Fitness Club, Broncos Fynest, SME, AGC, KOI, NYSAVT, ZDT, UDE, TKE, MIU, Tri- At, DOE, and LAU. Treasurer, Genevieve Fanfan Treasurer Sports, Recreation, and Leisure and WIC, were fined $25 for being absent. Vice President, Ryan Ali Vice President The Consitution Committee meet and came up with recommendations for several organizations ASUBA-The constitution committee reviewed and recommended that ASUBA become a recognized club on campus

3 ASUBA Fashion Moguls-The constitution committee reviewed and recommended that ASUBA Fashion Moguls become a recognized club on campus Studio 1-The constitution committee reviewed and recommended that Studio 1 become a recognized club on campus ASUBA and ASUBA Fashion Moguls Studio 1 2 nd campus voice 40 in favor 3 abstentions 2 nd student Veterans 42 in favor 1 absented President, Sashagay Watt ASUBA and ASUBA Fashion Moguls have been approved, and are now recognized by the student senate Studio 1 has been approved, and are now recognized by the student senate President This is the last meeting in house of the semester. The next meeting will be online on Vancko Hall. If there are any issues, please reach out to the executive board. We have some treasurer binders, as well as club binders. Many of the treasurer binders were return, many of the senator binders were not. These binders are very helpful for your organizations to pass down the information from year to year. Collaboration is looked at when the budget process happens at the end of the year. Old Business Last meeting, President Sashagay Watt made a motion to approve the Student Senate being able to dip into our undesignated net assets during the fiscal year in the following ways:

4 1) Up to $55,000 to provide additional funds for the spring concert/homecoming. 2) Up to $25,000 to put towards a possible project for Farrell Club Suite to become 24hour access with card swipe for club level offices. 2 nd campus voice 31 in favor 12 abstentions Motion has been passed Approval of Grants BKX - $350 New Business The Student Senate Executive Board request for a point of clarification. President Sashagay Watt: Where is it located? When is the date? Campus Voice: Farrell Commons on December 6 th. Treasurer Genevieve Fanfan: How have you advertised your event? Campus Voice: We ve advertised in the Daily Student , as well as the sign boards, and flyers posted around campus The $350 grant for BKX was approved BDE and LAU - $500 each ($1000). The organizations each asked for $500 for gift cards. They initially advertised their event to be a $1000 cash prize. Due to legality issues, the Student Activities Fee cannot be used for cash prizes. The Student Executive Board has decided that the grant request will be approved with the conditions that the grant must only be used for a gift card of the winning organizations choice. This means that the types of gift cards can be, but are not limited to, NIKE, Amazon, for Greek Apparel, Club Colors, ect. The grant money cannot be used for Visa cards, or anything that can be transferred into cash. Following the event and approval of the winner, the Director of the Student Activities must approve the purchase. The $500 grants for BDE and LAU ($1,000) has been approved. College players In the past, College Players has done plays every year. This coming semester they would like to do the musical, Heathers.

5 Sasha: Have you filled out the request form College Players: No Sasha: Why is it more expensive than regular organizations? College Players: Licensing this play is very expensive. We will attach the quote for the play to the request form Open discussion Anime and Gaming: Could the school consider ATM machines that would be able to deposit checks and cash into bank accounts for more popular banks, or even ones that this process could be used on. President Sashagay Watt: some banks waive the fee if you call and ask. More research would have to be done to see Secretary Emily Gleason: Branches for different banks PGM: If you have an advantage card at price chopper, they will cash your work checks. President Sashagay Watt: What about the higher one card? Anime and Gaming: Not sure With the help of the Greek Council representative, there was a demonstration on how to access the Student Senate Vancko Hall page and how to self-enroll and be in attendance at the next meeting. Advisor, Lawrence Mannolini III Advisor report This Saturday is the annual holiday parade. The line up will be on Clinton Street. It had to move to off campus because of the Discover Delhi Day. The Job searches for a new Assistant Student Activities Director as well as a mail room attendant are going smoothly. Larry Mannolini, and Nick Wagner are currently going through workshops with the engage platform Adjournment President Sashagay Watt made a motion to end the meeting at 6:03pm 2 nd by Campus Voice.
