1 Constitution The Tennis Club ARTICLE I - NAME! The name of this group shall be: The Tennis Club of Berklee College of Music. ARTICLE II PURPOSE! The purpose of the Tennis Club is to provide a physical outlet for students through the sport of Tennis. The Tennis Club can provide a break from the routine of music and classwork and promote physical activity, stress release, and a healthy life- style. Students will enjoy the sport of tennis and learn the value of teamwork, communication, and discipline, all while exercising. The Tennis Club welcomes both recreational and competitive play, and players of any race, gender, age, religion, and skill level. ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP! Active Membership shall consist of any Berklee student, faculty, or staff member. Voting membership and officer positions are limited to enrolled Berklee students.! Associate Membership may include students or faculty outside of Berklee through the ProArts Consortium. These schools include Boston Architectural Center, Boston Conservatory, Emerson College, Massachusetts College of Art, and School of Museum of Fine Arts. Associate members may not vote or hold office.! All members must show general interest in the club, an initiative to attend meetings and practices, show sportsmanlike conduct, and abide by Student Club Policies.! Any members caught with alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons at club- sponsored events are subject to immediate removal. Any member involved with criminal activity, whether during or outside of club meetings, are subject to immediate removal.! All members must contribute to fundraising events. Contribution can be considered as the following but not limited to: planning, organizing, attending, and promoting.

Berklee College of Music student clubs shall not deny membership to any student on the basis of race, age, color, religion, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status or disability.! Members may be removed from the club, through due process, should any of the officers or members feel that a member is extremely disruptive from the purpose of the Tennis Club. This includes but is not limited to: unsportsmanlike conduct on the courts, bullying, cheating, vandalism, consistent non- attendance, disrespect, and discrimination.! All removals will follow a procedure of notifying the member in question at least seven (7) days prior to the next meeting (on or off court). Members have the right to speak on their own behalf and a right to appeal. In which case, the member will have a meeting with the officers and come to terms. Should the officers and member in question not come to terms, a hearing may be scheduled for a vote. Removal of the member in question will follow in a 2/3 vote (voting shall be done privately and discreetly). ARTICLE IV OFFICERS! Officers of the club shall be as follows: 1. President 2. Vice- President 3. Secretary PRESIDENT The president organizes and runs club meetings, serves as the liaison between the club and the Student Activities Office, represents the club at campus meetings, keeps the club advisor informed of club activities, and has the authority to create committees to carry out the club s goal. The president is also responsible for club finances, formulates and implements strategies to generate income. VICE- PRESIDENT The vice- president holds the responsibilities and authorization of the president in the absence of the president, this may include but is not limited to: organizing and running club meetings,

3 communication between the Student Activities Center and the club, communication between the faculty advisor and the club, and club finances. SECRETARY The secretary is the custodian of all records of the club, records meeting proceedings and club activities, keeps a list of club members, handles correspondence and keeps membership informed of club projects and activities.! Officers must maintain at least a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CumGPA) of 2.00! Officers may be removed from their position for lack of performance or breaking the rules. The procedure of officer removal shall be as follows: 1. A member must give a written notice to the President about the officer in question, should the President be the officer in question, and then the written notice must be given to the Vice- President. 2. The officers will meet with the member who wrote the notice and discuss the conflict. Should the conflict merit the removal of the officer, the Tennis Club will conduct a hearing with all members of the club. 3. The officer in question has the right to speak on their behalf and appeal. 4. The officer will be removed from their position following a 2/3 vote of active members (voting shall be done privately and discreetly). 5. The President shall appoint a new officer to fill the position, or should the President be removed from officer position, the Vice- President shall assume the role of President, and may appoint a new Vice- President. NOTE: Being removed from an officer position does not mean removal from the club. ARTICE V ELECTION! The president will appoint an election committee four (4) weeks prior to the election.! The committee will take nominations up until the elections.! Nominees must be enrolled Berklee students and have attended at least 3 off- court meetings.

4 ! All nominees must have at least a CumGPA of 2.00, and maintain a CumGPA of at least 2.00 during his/her term of office.! Elections will be held during the last scheduled meeting in April. Membership will be advised of elections 2 weeks in advanced of the election date.! The term of office shall be May 1 st to April 30 th of the following year.! In the case of resignation during the term of office, the President may appoint a new officer, or if the President resigns, then the Vice- President shall assume the responsibilities of the President. ARTICLE VI MEETINGS! The club will meet for practice/matches at least once per week, but may be more. The location of said on- court meetings are to be determined and announced the by officers at least one week prior to the practice or match. In the event of cancellation, officers will notify members as soon as possible.! On- court meetings during cold months are subject to availability of funds and indoor court fees, and therefor may result in less frequent meetings.! The club will meet off courts at least once a month during the fall and spring semesters. These meetings will primarily be for planning, organizing, and conducting business. Quorum for conducting business shall be 2/3 of voting membership. The officers shall notify membership of all meetings.! The club may also have board member meetings, where any of the three officers may request a meeting to discuss administrative, financial or organizational details. ARTICLE VII FINANCES! The group shall request funding or generate funds as needed following the Policy and Procedures Governing Student Organizations at Berklee. ARTICLE VIII AMENDMENTS! The organization can only accept amendments if there has been previous notice of such changes (at least one week prior to the off- court meeting) and there quorum is present.! Passage of amendments will be by a majority vote of 2/3 voting membership. ARTICLE IX RATIFICATION

5 ! The constitution shall be ratified with a quorum present and a majority vote of 2/3 of voting membership.! Amendments will be effective immediately, following the ratification process
