1 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED UNDER NATIONAL MISSION ON BOVINE PRODUCTIVITY HELD ON 16TH NOVEMBER, 2016 UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF THE SECRETARY, ADF, AT KRISHI BHAWAN, NEW DELHI. A meeting of National Steering Committee was held under the Chairmanship of the Secretary, ADF on November 16th, List of participants is given at Annexure I. The Task Activity chart is given at Annexure II. 2. At the outset, the Chairman welcomed the participants and expressed disappointment over the attendance of participants and directed cattle Division of DADF to issue notice in time and take confirmation in advance from all participants. The Chairman directed the division to introduce the scheme and modalities for its implementation to the participants. 3. Representative of cattle division gave a brief presentation on the activities covered under the scheme, implementing agencies identified for implementation of the project and modalities of implementation of the scheme. The following points were discussed during the Meeting: 4. Pashu Sanjivni The issue of distribution tablets for uploading data on National Data Base was discussed. After discussion it was decided that tablets will be made available only to Government AI technicians. List of Government AI technicians working in the States will be made available by ision during the next National Steering Committee meeting. Tagging covered under Pashu Sanjivni shall be synced with livestock census enumerators of Animal Husbandry Statistics Division. ision shall obtain information on tablets/notebooks given to Local Resource Person (LRP) and MAIT under National Dairy Plan-I State wise and district wise. Division shall also obtain information on number of tablets/notebooks given to AI technicians under different schemes of Government of India and under State schemes in order to avoid any duplication of activities. It was mentioned that for tagging animals in milk, standards and specifications developed under NDP-I shall be adhered to. In order to avoid any duplication of activities, information on number of animals tagged under NDP-I, insurance scheme of DADF and by State Livestock Development Boards shall be obtained State wise and district wise. State Implementing Agency shall certify while giving the account of tagging.

2 While discussing Nakul Swasthya Patra the participants were of the view that format for the health card shall be developed and same shall be circulated among all the States and UTs. 5. Assisted Reproductive Technique s of the NSC were of the view that funds may be made available under the scheme NMBP for Research & Development activities and some specific goals of R&D shall be fixed including standardization of semen sorting techniques for indigenous breeds and development of high density genomic chips for indigenous breeds. It was mentioned by the members R & D activities may be undertaken by ICAR institutes and other Central institutes. It was mentioned that standards and specifications for establishment of ETT/IVF labs shall be developed with the assistance from NBAGR and NDRI. Assistance of NDDB shall be obtained for obtaining list of specific activities to be undertaken under each of the components of the scheme. This will enable to identify the activities to be undertaken by different agencies. 6. E-Pashudhan Haat It was mentioned that appropriate name may be obtained for the portal e- pashuhaat from Hon ble AM&FW. Address of e-pashu haat portal shall be made available to all the members of NSC. 7. National Bovine Genomic Centre for Indigenous Breeds It was mentioned that list of the participating institutions in project model for NBGC-IB shall be updated by cattle division along with their specific role in consortium. Other decisions taken during the meeting: (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (v) It was decided that Dr T.K. Dutta will be head of project management unit as NDRI Karnal has already agreed to nominate Dr Dutta as head of PMU. For Field Performance Recording & Sampling Unit (PRSU) NDDB will be Coordinator and Deputy Registrar CHRS Unit Rohtak will be co-coordinator. DNA Chip Unit will be coordinated by National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources and National Dairy Research Institute will be Co-coordinator. For Breeding Value Prediction Unit NDRI will be coordinator and NDDB will be co-coordinator. All the concerned institutes will submit nomination of scientists for coordinators and co-coordinators as per decision of NSC.

3 (vi) It was decided that all the females in milk between the age of 2.5 years to 8 years shall be identified and registered under Pashu Sanjivni. (vii) Central Institute for Research on Cattle Meerut, Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (Hisar), Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) and State Cattle Breeding farms also need to be included in Performance Recording and Sampling Unit. (viii) With respect to DNA Chip Unit, inclusion of CIRB, IVRI, BAIF and NDDB needs to be done. The meeting ended with vote of thanks to chair ***
