Various other jobs of very urgent nature e.g. Speeches of Hon ble Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Secretary General, Tour Programmes etc Functions The Printing I, has arranged the printing of various publications received from various s of the Secretariat. The work involved the following: 1. Editing manuscripts from printing point of view, deciding the size, layout, style, cover design, binding and quality of paper, etc. in consultation with the author/originating s. 2. Sending manuscripts to the Press, after preparing proper printing requisitions, indication of priorities and making arrangements for procuring the printed copies therefrom. 3. Maintaining record of Press Vouchers. 4. Checking the proofs, broad- checking and final compilation of publications. 5. Maintaining daily record of proofs and printed publications received from the Press for checking and of those checked. 6. Keeping liaison with the Presses for timely execution of each job, according to priorities and personal supervision in the Press, whenever required. 7. Correspondence with the Directorate of Printing and the Government of India Presses as well as Private Printers with regard to the execution of printing of jobs and other works relating thereto. 8. Arranging inter-departmental meetings in order to streamline the procedure for printing and delivery of al Papers by the Press within the scheduled time and other allied matters. 9. Taking action in regard to problems like failure of electricity, water etc., faced by the Government of India Press, Minto Road, New Delhi where al jobs and other high priority and important jobs are printed. 10. Dealing with complaints regarding late receipt of al Papers, errors in printed copies, short supply and other problems faced by the Distribution and other s. Arranging entry passes to enter the Government of India Press, Minto Road, New Delhi for the staff of Printing or of any other whose representative is required to go there for on the spot corrections, etc. 11. Preparing and making arrangements of late duty Roster of Senior Printing Assistants/Printing Assistants/Proof Readers/Jr. Proof Readers in Printing -I during period for transmitting Mss./CRC of al Papers to the Press for overnight printing and also for inter-session period, keeping liaison for the same. 12. In addition to the allotted work, the has also undertaken the following jobs:- i) Checking of Committee Reports ii) Checking of Hindi Starred and Unstarred Questions Lists (Proofs and ) iii) iv) Checking of Debates Checking of proofs of List of Business, PLOT and Bulletins Part-I & Part-II before finalising the CRC in the Translation. 271

Under Print Mss of H/v is received from the concerned Who s Who Mss is received from 52.4 Quantum of work During the year 2011, 2455 jobs were received from various s for printing and these were sent to different Presses for printing and obtaining proofs etc. as against 2362 jobs in The volume of work handled by this for the last 2 years is as follows: Volume of work (Mss. pages sent to Presses) : Volume of work printed by Presses : Bills 266 Government/Private Members Bills (English and Hindi) in different stages were printed during the year 2011 as against 341 in al papers All the al Papers assigned to this and relating to day-to-day business of the House i.e, Bulletins Part-I & II, List of Business, Summons, Provisional Calendars of Sittings, Question Charts, Lists of Papers Laid on the Table etc., both in English & Hindi, were printed through Camera Ready Copies Progressive use of Hindi during 2011 The following publications were brought out in Hindi besides their English Version: 1. E-Waste in India While the annual magazine Nutan Pratibimb was brought out in Hindi exclusively. Proof checking/broad-checking etc. all the Hindi jobs was done in this. As such personnel of this are well conversant with Hindi. Generally, the communications from various Government Presses, Directorate of Printing, Private Presses and inter-departmental/intra-departmental were received in English and as such, the noting on files and correspondence relating thereto were done in English only. However, wherever it was possible this section tried its best to communicate in Hindi as well. The Hindi Versions of various forms used in this were also prepared with the help of E & T Service Total receipts In all 2455 receipts were dealt within this during the year 2011 as against 2362 receipt during Goals & Objectives The primary aim and goal of this is to provide error-free printed materials to various s of the Secretariat within a stipulated time frame. 274
